  1. What's to say the club don't have a player lined up to come in on loan in the event the Gullan deal fell through. There would be no need for it to be rushed through before the deadline last night. What difference will it make if they sign today, tomorrow, Friday etc. I'm sure well see another striker arrive in the near future
  2. The fact that TW mentioned in his interview the other day about the loan window makes me think we knew this would be a possibility that the Gullan deal might not happen and i would be shocked if we weren't working on other targets to be brought in loan. It doesn't make much difference when the loan deal is done but ideally the sooner the better to get them integrated with the squad before the next league game
  3. People having a go at James Fowler need to get a grip. We’ve pretty much signed a brand new squad over the transfer window and by all accounts were all the players that TW identified and wanted. Not signing Gullan yesterday was unfortunate and by all accounts we’d done everything on our side only to be done over by Hibs who wouldn’t release him. TW and JF are well aware we we can still sign players on loan for another month or so and I am convinced there will be targets that are getting worked on if we found ourselves in this position. Remember these signings didn’t need to be made yesterday and I’m sure we’ll see another 1 or 2 arrive in the near future
  4. I guess whether Gullan does happen or not tonight we still have the advantage of being able to bring in loan players for the next month so there will still be scope to strengthen the attacking options albeit possibly with different targets. Added to that there still seems to be a decent number of out of contract players available as well that might be worth bringing in to train with us etc
  5. Ross County just signed a new striker so that’ll prob be the green light for Shaw to be allowed to leave then
  6. Really quite underwhelming if it turns out to be Shaw and Gullan to be honest. Having waited all summer to sign strikers and being patient you kind of hope at least 1 of the strikers would be something a little special and be a level above everything else in the division. It kind of feels this is what we’ve been left with as a last resort especially if it’s to be believed we hijacked Shaw going to Hamilton at the last minute. I would have liked at least one of the strikers to be a bit more experienced with a reasonable goalscoring record but along with Cameron, we’ll have 3 relatively unproven, inexperienced strikers. Maybe my expectations of what we can attract in the Championship are unrealistic but don’t see either of these players setting us apart from any of the other teams in the division. I really hope I’m proved wrong come the end of April.
  7. St Johnstone have been trying to get clearance for this Finnish striker for a number of weeks now which might be preventing them allowing Hendry to leave. Jack Ross said Hibs are looking to business in forward areas especially with Dodge out injured which would impact on whether Gullan is allowed to leave or not
  8. I has the same thought. With TW intimating the deals would be done by the deadline that would imply they would be permanent deals because if they were only loans there wouldn’t be such a time constraint due to having an extra month for loans, although preferably would like any new players in ASAP
  9. Just a really frustrating afternoon. With a real lack of cutting edge in the team. Terrible defending in the lead up to the first goal and the keeper has got to do better. Burke looked rattled after those few kicks he got early on and never recovered, surprised he finished the game. The real problem for me is the midfield, it’s just all too slow and pedestrian. McGinn actually played well and always showed for the ball but Alston and Polworth were miles off it. Once we have our strikers Robinson has to drop back to replace one of them and play as the most advanced. I just don’t see it happening for Cameron, he’s just so laboured and isn’t great on his hold up play. If he playing we need to get to the byline and get crossed in the box for him to attack which we just aren’t doing. Also am I the only one still to be convinced by Naismith? For a big guy he doesn’t win many headers, very rarely goes on the overlap with Burke and hardly get any crosses in the box.QOTS goal aside I just thought we’d have seen more from him so far
  10. So do we think its a case of now St Johnstone are out of Europe they are happy to let Callum Hendry leave?
  11. I was willing to give everyone the benefit of the doubt in this as I expected today to be a box ticking exercise and tickets would now be on sale. How has it taken until today for additional measures to be required for the Moffat stand. Have these measures not been raised at previous meetings before the Stranraer and Ayr games if the council thought they’d be required when restrictions would be lifted. We could have since had these implemented and been good to go. Tomorrow we’re now going to be 4 days before the game still not knowing what’s going on and ICT fans will be none the wiser whether to make travel plans or not. Absolutely farcical!
  12. Is it maybe just a case we've been waiting until nearer the game in the unlikely case there was a change in restrictions before the game? No point in us saying 2 weeks ago that it is full capacity then to have to back track the week of the game due to restrictions being different due to some drastic change with covid cases/transmission. I know that was a very unlikely scenario given the vaccinations levels and the fact we seem to be just having to live with COVID now, but maybe the club/council were waiting to decide with the most up to date guidance as possible. That said there should be absolutely no reason we don't get the green light to get back to full capacity like every other club in Scotland and have everyone wo wants to be at that game there
  13. Really enjoyed that today. If we can find the right final pieces of the jigsaw up front this league is ours for the taking. It’s just a pleasure watching a team with a real togetherness and desire to win. Ewan Murray looks great at the back. He wins everything in the air and is great in the tackle. McGowan slotted in seamlessly next to him today The difference having a midfield who are composed on the ball and all willing to get forward into the box in great to see. I think McGinn, Alston and Polwarth have been in the opposition box more in the first 3 games of this season than Dicker and Power were in the whole of last season. There will undoubtedly be ups and downs this season but the more this team start to gel the more I’m confident we’ll see a successful outcome come April
  14. Just spoke to Katrina there to buy a ticket for tomorrow. She said around 1200 tickets sold so far and hoping to shift a few more of the remaining 400 odd this afternoon
  15. My predicament is earlier in the week, I didn’t think I was able to go but now it’s looking a possibility that I can get to the game but probably won’t know for sure until tomorrow. As I live in Edinburgh there will be no way for me to get tickets posted to me in time. Will their be a ticket booth at the ground for walk ups or would the SLO collect paid for tickets to hand out at the ground?
  16. Utter pish, can’t go now. Was looking forward to a wee trip up on a Saturday
  17. 2 strikers needed in now ASAP, one ideally before Hamilton at a minimum. The length of time it’s taken us to get 1 striker in makes me worry what the quality will be and will be someone to make up the numbers. In regards to CB, regardless of the extent of Stokes injury, I’ll think we’ll just have to go with what we’ve got in terms of McGowan and Sanders as replacements. I can’t imagine we’d have any budget left if we need to bring in 2 strikers, unless we can pick up a cheap loan or someone willing to play for pennies
  18. I never minded Lee Erwin when he played with us, although thought he was a decent technical player. However i don't think he is what we are needing at the moment. I've always seen him as a 2nd striker and think he does his best work in and around the edge of the box. He's never been a prolific goalscorer anywhere he's played which makes me question if he'd be the right signing for us. Maybe a drop in level to the Championship might be different but i don't see it
  19. I always had in my head that Clark was more of an attacking midfielder than striker but i seem to be wrong. He's got a better goal/game ratio than i thought he would have as well. Would be a good option for us in the championship i think and certainly better than Erwin
  20. I'd be surprised if Stevie May and Callum Hendry weren't 1 of the 2 options. Players that TW knows well. Lee Erwin could be shout as well. Looking at the premiership squads there's not a lot of clubs that a have and abundance of strikers but St Johnstone and St Mirren are 2 that are maybe a little top heavy in that department with players who might see themselves as 1st team players
  21. Just got mine through a minute ago. 2nd row of the east stand in block 15. My ST is back row in the centre of the east stand so will take a bit of getting sitting so close to the pitch
  22. The fact the game is now on a Monday night and i live in Edinburgh, makes it a real pain in the hoop for me to get to. The easiest thing for me to do is pass my ticket on to brother to use, as he lives local and last thing i want is my seat sitting empty.
  23. On paper would should be able to win the league comfortably as man for man we have the best squad in the league but as we all know that doesn't guarantee you anything. Taking the league cup results as a marker Dunfermline are looking the team to beat at the moment especially scoring 13 goals in their 4 games. I think defensively we will be very solid this season as we have good options across the back 5. I'm still a little unsure as to how we will fare in midfield as McGinn and Alston are both technically sound but not the most mobile. I think that became apparent in the 2nd half on Saturday when they started to flag when Stranraer started to up the tempo. I'm interested as to what TW will see as our best midfield set up as legs and energy will be key especially in the games that become more of a battle. We have good wide options and getting a lot of balls into the box is clearly going to be a key part of our play this season. Our recruitment up front is going to be key and could be the difference maker. Bringing in quality player/s up front who can score 15+ goals a season will play a huge part in how successful we are. Hopefully due to the time it is taking to bring in a striker/s means we are looking bringing in decent quality. I don't think this season will be a doddle by any stretch of the imagination and we will have to be patient while this brand new team takes time to gel but hopefully when it does the difference in quality will come through and see us to winning the league
  24. At least he’s acknowledged that there is a possibility of bringing in more than 1 striker. His previous comments of bringing in only 1 worried me as that would have left us short. I guess we’ll be waiting on other clubs, esp in England, doing their business to see who will be available, either for transfer or loan.
  25. Yep just tried it and bought one. Not sure if it’s a glitch and the club will honour it or not?
