  1. No, I honestly just don’t remember the games and opposition he played that people are basing the assertion that they’d be happy to have him as first choice keeper next season. We need someone reliable in there that will make minimal blunders like previously listed duds did. Hopefully Hemming will return but if not would be surprised if Walker took over as first choice.
  2. I’ve no doubt he is a decent keeper but having been at or watched most of our games last season I’m struggling to remember the games he actually played in and therefore what you base the fact he could be our first choice next season on? Not being awkward, just a genuine question. We gave indeed had some diddies and that played a large part in getting us relegated.
  3. I admire the optimism of anyone who seriously thinks we have a chance of finishing 4th but unless we pull off a couple of game changer signings I can’t see it. Hearts will strengthen and be favourites for third again, Hibs will be better under Lee Johnson, Dundee Utd will finish above us and Aberdeen will be much better or Goodwin will be gone by Christmas. I’d expect us to finish above both Saints, County although they’ve just had a very good season and ‘Well so it’s 7th for me. I’ve said it before but I’m still not convinced by the signing record of DM over the years. He had a huge budget at the Dons but still bought some right duds and he’s going to have to box clever with much less to spend. The loan signings he brought in January were underwhelming to say the least and let’s hope Alan Power isn’t the level we are pitching at. Top six finish would be a very decent first season back but it will hinge on the signings we make.
  4. Have to say I’m a bit surprised when I hear comments along the lines that we are we are more or less sorted with what we already have in the squad in attacking positions. We will be up against better class defenders than last season, obviously, and we rarely skelped anyone in the Championship. Lafferty doesn’t seem to score away, I’m in the not convinced category with Shaw and Robinson is injury prone and won’t feature much. Cameron will be on the bench at best. I think we need a couple of decent strikers in to have any hope of a top six finish.
  5. All valid points and I’m sure he is comfortably off financially but McInnes is an ambitious man and it won’t just be about the money. Its an easy commute to Edinburgh for him so family situation won’t come into it. In all his time at Aberdeen he won one trophy and that against ICT so that will rankle and let’s be honest he has a better chance of doing it again with the resources at Hibs. The deciding factor could well be the Board he would be working with but that won’t be a deal breaker for whoever takes it. Lets hope he stays with us then we can all focus on next season.
  6. Speaking of Sunderland, wonder if our Board have spoken to Lee Johnston, ex boss there, former Killie legend and currently available from what I understand. A great shout if DM moves to Hibs surely?
  7. Local press in Aberdeen suggesting DM might have a conversation with Andrew Considine. An injury risk after so long out but loads of top flight experience and an upgrade on Stokes and E Murray.
  8. What do you base that on? I’m sure he’s a good keeper but we’ve hardly seen him.
  9. Lewis looks certain to leave Aberdeen and if Zach is heading elsewhere (have we been given indications he is?) then he would be an experienced replacement. Think he’d head back south though but you never know.
  10. If our ambition is top six we won’t get there with the bulk of a squad that struggled to impress most games in the division below. By youth players I assume you mean ours. McArthur hardly got a kick in the Championship and Wales who I read mentioned as a prospect, is surely not going to break straight into the team. The rest are going to get a loan move to a division one or two side at best, sadly.
  11. So if we ended up with Lafferty, Hendry or Cosgrove in addition to Shaw how are we going to line up? Hendry is starting for Saints so presumably would be looking to do so most games with us. Cosgrove is too similar to Lafferty so both won’t start and neither will be prepared to be on the bench.
  12. Lack of service isn’t his issue, he has had a barrel load of chances this season against poor sides. His problem is converting them when one on one with the keeper.
  13. Did you see his miss late in the game Friday and many many other one on ones throughout the season? Championship is his level or option from the bench next season.
  14. Jones has done nothing since leaving us to suggest he would be worthy of bringing back and to say he would be an upgrade on Armstrong and Polworth is hardly saying much. Better out there for the money and we need to move on. JJ is gone and not coming back.
  15. No idea why the red fest responses here as pretty much spot on. The current squad stumbled their way over the line in a bang average league where our nearest challengers were a largely part time team. Unless we have a fairly significant clear out no way will be challenging for a top six spot next season. Our midfield improved under McInnes but there is a lack of creativity and pace that will be over ran against better players. Upfront Shaw will be an off the bench option. Lafferty would have to agree to similar terms to what he’s on now or the money could be better invested elsewhere. He either seems to score or is anonymous and contributed little away from home. For me big changes required if we are to push on and the poor choice of loanees DM brought in with most hardly kicking a ball is a concern when it comes to new signings.
  16. Cutting it a bit fine but great work if it’s achieveable ?
  17. Which it is then when we get the chance to threaten reaching capacity, no apparent contingency plan is in place to maximise the crowd and whet the appetite of glory hunters, the club balls it up through lack of planning and forethought ?
  18. With what used to be the third highest budget then of course money would have talked at Aberdeen. Manager does have an influence though. McInnes talks a good game and I can see him selling the ambitions of the club well. Not sure if his own relatively short current contract might negate some of that but overall I think he will attract a better quality of player than some of his predecessors.
  19. The Morton player was trying to get his left arm out if the way by putting it behind his back and motioned his chest towards the ball to block. Will take the decision all day long but it was as dodgy as the one in the Friday night game at Firhill.
  20. The game at Gayfield aside, doesn’t say much about his choice of loanees given their game time and performances since. None of them have been close to improving the team.
  21. Hemming has been exceptional of course. Contender for player of the season. I was referring to those listed in the post I replied to.
  22. Without exception the loan signings have been a huge disappointment. Should have gone for quality over quantity.
