  1. Well, I couldn’t be too nice to them.
  2. Hi everyone, I’ve been meaning to post something on here for a while about this but I’ve left it in typically late fashion. Since my dad passed away in February, I wanted to do something to fundraise in his memory and hopefully make something positive out of a rotten situation. So I’ve been training to run a marathon between Rugby Park and Somerset Park and back again. The club have been brilliant in helping promote it, produced a video and put it on their social media channels which has had a fantastic response. The day’s arrived and I’ll be doing the “Run for Colin” this morning. I know many of you will have seen the stuff on social media and will have donated so this post is really just a thank you from me. The JustGiving page is still open if you’d like to make a donation (only if you are able to), the link is: https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/runforcolin2022 The kindness I’ve received from the Ayrshire football community since February has been unbelievable and massively appreciated so this is my way of saying thanks & trying to give a bit back. Money raised with split evenly between the community channels of Kilmarnock and Ayr United to help fund projects in the communities. That’s where the “love-in” ends, make no doubt every Saturday I will want Ayr United to get pumped - as it should be. To the Killie family, again thank you for the support, kind words since my dad passed away in February. What a club - YNTTK!
  3. Sentences you didn’t think you’d say two years ago: I absolutely love Kyle Lafferty. On a personal level, his goal celebration against Dunfermline with the armband for my dad was well documented and he asked to meet me after the game. Along with many other people, he showed me compassion and kindness at a time when it was truly needed and appreciated. So, for that alone I will never hear a bad word said against him. On the park, his contribution has been nothing short of sensational even going back to last season. Despite the relegation, his goals gave us a fighting chance. To get the amount of goals he did in such a short space of time was both incredible on his part and a damning indictment on the squad that had been assembled by AD. And on his return this season, he’s picked up where he left off. He has been superb and you can see that he has raised the standards & performances of others. Definitely captain material for me if he stays next season. Another wee point for discussion that I thought would be interesting to throw out there - is Kyle Lafferty the most influential player Killie have had since Eremenko? I mean in the sense of raising standards, improving the players around about him. We saw Eremenko do it with Conor Sammon & Jamie Hamill in particular. Fraser Murray’s game seems to be benefitting from having Lafferty’s presence in the team. Greg Stewart and Youssouf Mulumbu (first spell) perhaps?
  4. What about 38 year old men holding up signs to get Derek McInnes’ gilet?
  5. I’ll be there. I’m not missing this.
  6. That was a great day. My dad was raging at losing a last minute equaliser, I was buzzing that we got to do it all over again. Just one of the days I have great memories of with my dad. I’m glad you were part of it. if only Allan Russell had taken notice of us and f*cking dinked it.
  7. Hello everyone, thank you for the kind words. The club had asked the police to get my permission to make the post which I was happy to give - thank you to the club and to Ayr United for their condolences. I’ve been in contact with a couple of people who helped my dad after he took ill and have been glad to be able to thank them. There was a doctor who had been at the game as a fan who took the time to help him and reassure me, and I’d like to thank him personally. If anyone can put me in contact with him, I’d be immensely grateful. I didn’t catch his name and it’s needle in a haystack stuff, all I remember was he had glasses and showed me nothing but kindness. My dad was one of the old school. He’d tell me stories of his Killie days travelling the country, I think with the Bickering Bush. He started taking me in 1993 hoping I’d catch the bug. 0-0 against St Johnstone, he thought “there’s no way Scott will want to go back to that”. But I did. I loved it, and I loved it because it was our time after his week at work, it became our ‘thing’ and it didn’t take long for everything to be geared towards our Saturdays. In later years, we had to be a bit more picky on what games we went to. Money, time, real life got in the way. But I still had the same feeling going into the ground on Wednesday night as I did for the first time 29 years ago - going to the football with my dad and I wouldn’t change a thing. Well, maybe the score. The tweet I put out that Jazza posted was something I wanted to post just to acknowledge that the fan was my dad. No names, just my dad. I’ve been overwhelmed with the number of people sending condolences and the warmth from the football community has been a huge comfort. I have one small favour to ask of Kilmarnock supporters. My dad’s name is (was) Colin McCue. And with the dark sense of humour he had, I’m sure he’d appreciate the wicked irony of passing away after losing an Ayrshire derby. It’s Friday and I’m sure many will be having a drink at the end of the week, can I ask you to spare a thought and raise “One for Colin” Thanks again for all the kind words.
  8. Scott Burns at the Record reporting that GT missed training today, citing a hamstring strain.
  9. Just throwing out a wild one - Victor Anichebe. Seem to recall talk that he was training with us in the summer window before rocking up in Beijing. According to wiki, he's now a free agent.
  10. Could be tempted out of retirement to rip the pish out of you lot again.
  11. You can take a good f*ck to yourself.
  12. Scott McClymont giving his old STV colleagues a nod in the right direction? Might be interesting to see how the bookies' odds look later.
  13. Totally agree with this. Whilst taking into consideration it was against a part time side, I was impressed with the hour Burke played. Always looking for the ball, made time and space for himself and guided others (Thomas in particular) through the game. Very similar way to Eremenko and even Allan Johnston used to do. If he can stay injury and illness free then I think he'll make a massive contribution.
  14. Scott Burns tweeted saying Davies and Waddington set to have their loan spells cut short.
  15. LC eyeing up a move for Ricky Foster according to Scott Burns.
  16. This annoyed me a wee bit. As already pointed out, no connection with Rangers' 8 signings and their abandonment to the Scottish game. Although I was slightly surprised that Mark O'Hara was deemed surplus to requirements, I don't think that after the last two seasons of pretty abject performances anyone could be too critical of Lee Clark for being absolutely ruthless in his rehaul of the squad. In a perfect world we would have a side full of our own youth products (a team of Garry Hay's!) but sadly, most of the players that had come through in recent years (Kenny's Goslings I'm thinking of, in particular) haven't kicked on enough. Suspect that that's down to a lack of development from our previous two managers but I'd be guessing in all honesty. By all means, if press releases are being sent out without being proofread then aye, that's embarrassing. But I feel it's a wee bit sh*te to criticise a manager who has reassembled a squad that was in dire need of major surgery.
  17. Deals agreed for five new players, if the BBC are correct. http://m.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/36471945
  18. If he signs, Addison.
  19. Slater's tweeted - he's off too.
  20. Pretty sure they reaccommodated a section of their season ticket holders for our game there at New Year 2011 when we took a superb support there.
  21. Hello, Formerly killiemanjaro on the old forum, more of a lurker in recent seasons. Hopefully more engagement from here on in.
