  1. Sure thing, Craigie. I'm gonna buy them and decide when the draw is made whether I'm gonna go. Will keep you in mind if I don't.
  2. I got two tics for a Berlin game. Depends on draw whether I'll go though.
  3. This bunch of shysters are trying to have a bigger presence within the town. Word of warning, do not employ their services. Awful company, no morals. I understand many estate agents are similar, but these are worse than most.
  4. Haha, take your point, it could be seen as a bit cringe! Still, it makes Killie stand out and be a bit special/different. My wife and I are incomers and have embraced Killie ways (somewhat). Our son is Kilmarnock born and bred. We use the term as a source of pride in his home town.
  5. Crosshouse / Knockentiber is definitely the last Friday. I'd imagine Irvine do 31st, so boundary could be Dreghorn? Any Dreghorn residents confirm?
  6. This is an overly harsh assessment. There will be those among them for whom that is the case, but there are plenty within that group who actively fundraise and financially support Palestinians and the plight of those affected. I think you are doing them a disservice. Scoffing indiscriminately at all those voicing their views is, in my opinion, unfair. Where does it end? Can we ever protest? Political rallies, which you mention, will be outlawed soon as well; this is already being implemented. This is a principled stance, I think. They got it wrong in the immediate aftermath of the Hamas attacks, but condemning simple support for the people of Palestine is a slippery slope.
  7. Hi, anyone know any emergency plumbers in Killie that could help with shower that won't go off?
  8. Thanks. Didn't realis Brass was closing.
  9. I have a mate coming up from England next week. He loves his beer and is looking to visit a few pubs. I've stayed in Killie for a while but not sure of the best places to go for good beer. Not been out in the town for ages. Pre pandemic I liked the Brass and Granite and they usually have a decent selection. Anywhere I really should take him?

    Gaelic

Not sure of the veracity of your source, but assuming it's fairly accurate for argument's sake, it doesn't disagree much with what I was saying. Renfrewshire and Clyde Valley area would have been largely Cymbric speaking with pockets of Gaelic. As Cymbric was replaced, Gaelic would've gained more of a foothold (I think - it's been years since I studied this). Gradually English (Scots) became dominant in these areas too, as it did earlier in much of Lothian. In Galloway, Gaelic survived well into 18th century. On Arran it was still the language of most normal folk up till late 19th century so to claim it has no history in our neck of the woods is false.
