George Williams

A clutch of Premiership clubs are interested in Wales attacker George Williams.

The winger was part of Chris Coleman's squad that made the Euro 2016 semi-finals and interest is growing from within Scotland's top flight.

Kilmarnock boss Alex Dyer, Livingston's Gary Holt and Ross County co-managers Stuart Kettlewell and Steven Ferguson are all considering moves.

The 24-year-old is a free agent after leaving Forest Green Rovers at the end of last season.

Rovers of England's League Two wanted to keep Williams in Gloucestershire but were unable to because of the financial implications of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Record reporting ourselves, Livi and County looking at the Welshman

More often than not usually means his Agent has sent details to a number of clubs in the hope of attracting interest ...as well as also leaking it to a journalist or 2 ........

Of course but it’s something for us fans to clutch at.

Quick search looks like he can play on the left or between midfield and attack.

You don't expect the Record to realise that do you?

But looks like someone pointed it out to them:

No recollection of his time at St Johnstone at all.

It’s not a great record is it

No telling how many of those appearances are sub tho.
24 and seems to have just come off best part of career so far.

we need depth on the wing and this guys played international football. Will be worse options out there.

150 career appearances
56 of which substituted in
52 substituted out
25 goals (5 Pens)
12  assists
8 yellow cards
0 red cards

That's a lot of times substituted out - 52 times in 94 starts. Only completed 90 mins 42 times.

Doesn't include his full international career which is two starts and substituted in five times. No goals.

Again, in his two starts, subbed off around the hour mark.

So possibly unable to last,  or more likely if he is a winger, he was ineffective and hailed off for a tactical change.  How many times did we say that about Jones, or other wingers barring wee Burke.

Would also have been quite young when playing international football.

The kind of player we should be looking that, obviously hasn’t lived up to his early potential but still only 24. Been unlucky with a few bad injuries it seems.

Would be an excellent addition if we can get him so long as he passes his medical. He’s an impressive footballer and has a great approach. Would be one of the things we are missing, a penetrative midfielder who likes to play on the turn and can thread a pass and finish.

What happened to the guy from Europe (maybe Belgium) who failed the medical last season? Did he sign for someone else and how did his season go? Anyone know? Don’t remember us signing anyone similar to him when the deal fell through.

Am I imagining that for a long time we didn’t seem to get 90minutes out of Brophy. It’s hard to work out the relevance of certain numbers as you don’t know circumstances Of each game and managers tactics.
