Especially if the deal we offered relied on win bonuses to make up the bulk of his pay.

skygod
If Magennis does leave, how about lining up a loan deal for Matt Kennedy? He's going nowhere with Cardiff City and his last loan at Port Vale ended early because he couldn't cope with the demands of League One. He's probably too old now for U21 football so he's not going to get much action unless he goes on loan again, or Cardiff free him. A fresh start back where he began might be what his failing career needs. Otherwise, it's difficult to see where he's headed. He's had some number of clubs for a 21 year-old - Killie, Everton, Tranmere, MK Dons, Hibs, Cardiff and Port Vale.
piffer
Wouldn't mind seeing Kennedy back as a replacement if possible. If/when Josh goes We will need to replace his pace and power. It was noticeable we didn't have that at the weekend. He's inconsistent we know that but he's shown enough now to worry defender and I think the Well wide players would have been a bit more reluctant to bomb forward if they were leaving Hammell in a 1vs1 with Magennis rather than McKenzie. We don't have a direct replacement for the physicality, raw pace and power. Perhaps we should address that whether he stays or not

casual observer
Kennedy has Pace yes, but no power or physicality. Said at the time it was a money only move leaving us after a handful of appearances to disappear into Everton's development system. Don't know if playing first team football here would have developed him better or not, but it would have provided a platform experience and exposure, if not much stability with our managers revolving door policy! He really needs a club to set down some roots and flourish before his career passes him by.
historyman
I think it is probably now too late for Kennedy to fulfil his potential. Anecdotal evidence suggest that attitude was always a big issue.

Agent has a lot to answer for. As you know I am not a fan of agents, and Matt's did him no favours. Shame as the boy could have been a very good player. Now lost to football. Such a shame.
