Popular Post Ayrshire Killie
I remember there was quite a long thread last season on the respective merits of Burke and Jones. Since the start of 19/20, Burke has played 29 league games and scored 8 goals. He's had 4 assists in the league, and 6 in one game in the Scottish Cup. As well as everything else he brings to the game, he's been involved in 18 goals. Jones has played 7 games in the league. No goals and no assists. One pathetic sending off that injured only himself. Burke is nearly 37, Jones will soon be 26. I reckon Burkey's future looks brighter. There was no contest then, even more so now. Burke is one of the top five performers in all of Scottish football over the past two seasons, and definitely number 1 for 20/21. Open contract negotiations now, and get him on the coaching staff. He's the role model to beat all role models.
AyrshireCocard
To be fair, wouldn't mind Burkey on the right and Jones on the left. Different players who bring different qualities.

Jones on the left and we would be flying.
stumack
A Jones who completely bought into what Burke was doing with his career, absolutely. I'm just not sure the boy is bright enough.
Pelesboots
Non - contest. One is far more skillful and based on attitude, both on and off the pitch, far more professional. It's certainly not Jones.
Barneyboy
If Jones had Burkeys intellect he wouldn't have posted all the watp nonsense, be remembered by most as a good player in a good team who got us into Europe. But......
Pompey Repatriated
They really couldn't be more polar opposites in terms of attitude and intellect
red_dug
Think Burkey has been working hard on his shooting and free kicks too. Don't remember him having that kind of ping before.

I was gobsmacked and gutted last night when we had a late corner that he hit the first man with then the 2nd attempt he floated into the keepers arms. Not like him at all
pmonty3
If Jones has half the career Burke has he'll have done very well indeed.
historyman
8 goals in 29 league games is a fantastic return. I'd be happy with the that from the strikers

DG5
There's not even a comparison . Burke is streets ahead in terms of football ability and football brains end of story.

Squirrelhumper
Jones won[t even have 10% of the career Burke has had. In fact, I'd say Jones has peaked and he'll be dosing about oame s**tehole boozer in Redcar dining off the fact he played for the Huns when he's 30 and playing for Gateshead.
Bbk
Chris Burke could potentially be a future manager of KFC jj never will be!

Got to agree by the time Jones is 36 there is no way he will be playing at any decent level. Lots of natural pace and a decent amount of talent if he had Burke's attitude he could be playing at the highest level.
Pompey Repatriated
Jones is everything that is wrong with footballers. Burke is the example every footballer should strive to follow
Scouser2
To be fair it’s hard to judge as our ex player has hardly played over the past year ........ Burke’s move to us has been beneficial to him but even more so to us as his excellent and consistent form has been a mainstay in our attacking play , at times he is our only creative spark . Hopefully others can step up and assist this season Burke’s presence at the club has been beneficial off the park too and you can see how much he still enjoys the game and scoring! I and am sure many other been pleasantly surprised at how well Burke has performed since joining us and only hope he can continue for as long as possible

He spent a lot of time playing football with his son during lockdown and a lot of that time was in improving his free kicks. Certainly seems to be working.
Guff92
What impresses me most about Burke is how he gave 100% against Celtic on Sunday and up until the 85th minute last night he was still chasing down county defenders to win the ball back. Yes he’s lost some pace but he must be the fittest player in the league.
Bbk
The fact he has been so impressive for us during his time here makes a total mockery of other teams and managers (fill in who you think they are) making our plastic pitch an issue as probably one of the oldest pros playing in our league it obviously doesn't affect him too much top man!
Souleycouley93
Jordan Jones will be doing sportsman dinner circuit at 37. Teeth like bobby firmino.
DuncD
Jones has never had 20% of the end product Burke has. A very very poor mans Burke IMO. Jones had pace. That was it.
