Scouser2
Raining goals early on , one of the more open games in this strange mini tournament set up though some of the defending is very questionable for that level

Guff92
Aye but @Zorro says la liga is the GREATEST LEAGUE in the world. Strange, there’s no Spanish teams left.... there is of course a small English club left, they’ll beat Lyon. But the English league was rubbish this season. Ha Ha Ha. There's one English side made the last eight out of four, two Spanish sides made the last eight. Two German teams are in the semi-finals and RB Leipzig's team cost £67 million, almost as much as Rodri cost Man City.
Nobody
I think this is a good way to do the ‘champions’ league. Get it all over and done with in a few days and give us peace the rest of the time.

To be fair is it not the first time in 8 years or so there hasn’t been a Spanish team in the semi final? The quality in the Spanish league is definitely dropping in recent years though.

Didn’t Bayern destroy Spurs 7-2 this season? I think this says more about the strength of Bayern than any comparison of the English and Spanish leagues. Bayern’s supremacy doesn’t even say much about the Bundesliga.
Wrangodog
No matter how much money is spent on a team they still have to work for victory. From the first minute to the last Bayern pressed Barcelona relentlessly in the way that Barcelona used to press teams. Barcelona are on the slide, it's going to take more than a managerial change to sort that team out. How good was Dayot Upamecano the previous night, what a performance from the RB Leipzig number 5. Must say I've enjoyed the games so far.

Jasg
Messi might be a good player but he’s a s**t manager/head of recruitment!giving one player to much power really works lol
piffer
Barca are an absolute clusterf**k at the moment. Messi has too much power and is reluctant to commit his future. He’s got suitors in England and Italy as well as apparently fancying playing for Newells in Argentina the club he supports. They’ve got an ageing squad which has served them well but because of the way the club constitution works they can’t afford to refresh it as they want. Any excess spend in a year has to be paid by the directors and not burden the club. The pandemic has cut their income dramatically so they have to sell before they can buy. With an election due soon directors won’t foot a big bill in case they don’t get in again. Add to that Xavi their first choice as manager has knocked them back twice.
carpetfitter
Bayern have been a team in transition over the last few years, with Lam, Schweinsteiger, Ribery and Robben coming to the end. The players to have come through Coman, Kimmich, Gnabry, Sula and the awesome Alphonso Davies have now gelled with continuity guys Lewandowski (54 goals this season), Neuer and Mueller. What a player he is. Not a 9, not a 10, not a winger but sometimes all three - unorthodox but immensely skilled and his movement is incredible. Couldn’t take my eyes off him when he played for Germany at Hampden. To think he was on his way out under the previous manager. They are some team and team is what they are, for they are even greater than the sum of their hugely talented constituent parts. And next season they have Sane too.

The other thing was the forward runs by Bayern players, Their was always 3/4 players moving into space and the Barca midfielders let them run. Shocking performance from what are supposed to be top players. But Bayern Team are impressive this season.

Muellers work rate when he played at Hampden was unbelievable. I remember him chasing the ball across all of the back four on several occasions. And Lewandowski is an incredible finisher. They look like very strong favourites now.

After the English champions being papped out of Europe by the third best team in Spain, you’d think Liverpool’s fanboy would have had the common sense to keep his head down on this one. Obviously not.

Barcelona were woeful but I think it’s worth remembering they could’ve been 3-1 up early in the match. As Bayern’s confidence grew and Barca heads dropped as the goals rained in, the gulf became huge. But it was obvious at 5-2 that the Barcelona players had thrown in the towel. The lack of pride and fight should be worrying to the next manager, but I reckon the right person could get a lot more out of Griezmann, Dembele, Fati, Umtiti, De Jong and Puig. Coutinho may even come back into the reckoning, it certainly didn’t look like he wanted to burn any bridges last night.
