Time for change?

Can't blame Dyer at all for the result today or for most if his tenure. The majority of games under his management we have been in total control. Today Millen, Findlay and McGowan should all hold their hands up. Were in total control as were we in past games.

Less if the silly talk. Dyer's record may not be the best but we have a bunch if basically starters/internationals costing us day in day out.

The only thing Dyer needs to do is a bit more toug love on the players.

Jesus wept.

Going by his record he's the worst manager we've had in a long long time.

Clarke’s greatest ability was to get the absolute maximum out of his players . He instilled desire and belief .

Exactly this.

I'm not calling for Dyer's head (yet), but this is exactly where the difference lies. More than once I have heard Dyer tell the media that the goal for the season is "to avoid relegation".

Outwardly, that is a f**king horrible message to be sending. Not only telling the fans we have no ambition, but also telling the players that as long as we don't go down, they've done their job.

That's not good enough.

So was Clarke's. Small, achievable goals at every step, no? Stay up, mid table, top 6, top 5, top 4, top 3.

The difference being, Clarke took us on when we were bottom and expectations were rock bottom.

Dyer came in at a point where expectations are, rightly or wrongly, much higher. We've tasted the success of 3rd place and although expectations should be realistic, tempering those is not saying that our goal is to avoid relegation less than 15 months after such success.

4 games in , really?

It isn't 4 games though, he has been in charge for 19 games and he's W4 D4 L11. Now before anyone says last season wasn't his team, it wasn't AA's either but a large quantity called for his head and dyer has had two full transfer windows and is still playing on average 7 players he had last season in his starting 11 and getting the same results. He obv deemed them decent enough to keep but he isn't getting the wins. He can't seem to influence change in a game when things aren't going our way.

I take it everyone shouting for Dyer to go has bought their season ticket this year, let’s face it he doesn’t have a big budget to rebuild on after years of neglect ( Clarke included)

Exactly, he doesn't have a big budget. So we need someone who can get results with the budget we have. Dyer clearly can't.

Today was undoubtedly a poor result, no question. From a comfortable position, the red card has completely changed the course of the game, in addition to individual errors. During the recent window, the board have clearly backed AD to bring in his own players and shape the squad the way he wants it. With new players coming in, it can take time for any squad to gel (obviously the likes of Findlay, Broadfoot, Power, Dicker, Burke etc were there before).

The 'test' of a manager at the start of a new season is normally better defined once 11 matches have been completed against each side. So far we would have expected to beat St. Johnstone at home, and possibly County away, with presumably nothing from Celtic, and Easter Rd always a difficult place to go....so, a 'realistic' expectation of between 4-6 points. Clearly a return of 2 from that is disappointing. Two very tough away games to come, with what looks to be another 'should' win against Utd at home. We then have the Hamilton's and St.Mirren's to come...games in which again we should be looking to take 3pts.

I know that AD had a mixed record in the 2nd half of last season, but that was following a January transfer window in which we basically brought in Broadfoot and Kabamba, it was a mend and make do, approach by the board. It is difficult to judge a manager until not only from the start of the season they have faced each side, but also until they have their own players in.

Of course we need an improvement in results, and soon, no doubt, and obviously if we continue on a run where we aren't able to beat the likes of Utd, Hamilton, St.Mirren etc the board would need to assess the situation. However, 4 games in, it is still very early with a new squad.

Incidently, Livi have managed 2 wins in their last 10 matches,(from the end of last season until now), including defeats to Ross County, St. Johnstone, and St.Mirren and a 4-1 at home to Hibs......presumably that would be classed as relegation form as well?

Have you bought a season ticket?
