James K Polk
Positives - Kiltie again creating chances in the final 3rd, I’m already wanting the club to being going back to him to try and get him on a longer term contract. Findlay looking back to his old form. Dyer spotted we need to change formation in the second half and did plus he subbed off the right players. Downside - no points again which can be habit forming no matter you play. Brophy was well off the boil. Dicker struggled against a younger, fitter, faster midfield who are technically competent. We are not at panic stations yet but do need a consistent run of positive results. Have to say as well some credit has to go to Aberdeen who look more organised and capable to breaking up the pitch at speed than they have done for a couple of years.
RAG
We were 3rd top scorers in the league before kick off. Pittodrie not exactly one of our better venues. Our defence hasn’t been exactly brilliant this year. Findlay in poor form, as is McGowan, Broadfoot toiling a bit. . If can stick a few like we did against Dundee United, past another team, that should settle any relegation jitters. We can score goals against the poorer teams, but Aberdeen at home, aren’t one of them!

I don’t get that either. We seem to be very accepting in defeat now just because we played well in the games. It’s a results driven game. You don’t get bonus points at the end of the season because you played well. We need to start putting points on the board ASAP. Starting with a win over Accies. If that doesn’t happen Dyers sacking should be the headline on Saturdays 6 o'clock news.

Backs to the wall, in a must win game, might suit us again. Isn’t often Killie teams make it easy for themselves anyway! -

I hope AD sticks with the 2 up top and has a right good go at them, he may well need to with amount of silly goals we’re conceding!

Sending off and two abysmal individual errors cost us the points against the saints and we pumped united. A few things going our way would've seen us have 9 points and 4 from these games. Small margins is all it takes.

Bullitt
Disappointed but not downhearted with the performance. Seen enough this season despite the defeats to know that we are a decent enough side who currently aren't carrying any luck. Next few games are probably a better indication of where we are and winning these games is imperative.

Bbk
Very fine margins in some of our defeats so far and with a little more luck we could possibly have had a few more points though it is worrying that losing could become a hard habit to break let's hope not. -
Pompey Repatriated
Dyer post match said he's going back to Kilmarnock. Sorry, but no manager should ever be happy after a defeat. Even if you think it, don't say it! Same as saying a point at County would be a good result -

Presumably along with Gary Holt if Livi don't win next weekend, (at Parkhead), as their record (1 win in 7) is exactly the same as ours...(or 4 wins in 15 for them if you want to stretch it to last season as well) Where I thought that AD could have been more proactive today was switching to a back 3 earlier on and having 5 in the middle with Kiltie as AM, and bringing on McKenzie on one side and Pinnock on the other a little earlier..we eventually got there, but could maybe have made the change round at HT. Still, of the games played so far would we realistically have expected points at Ibrox, Pittodrie, and even Easter Rd, given the way Hibs have started the season? We didnt really expect anything from Celtic either, so that leaves 3 other matches- County (a) St. Johnstone (h) and Utd (h). From these 7 pts would have been the return looked for....the St. Johnstone game has been well documented, and the impact which Millen's sending off had in that one, otherwise, 3 pts looked likely. The top 4 this season look very likely to be Celtic, Rangers, Aberdeen and Hibs. Of course we should never 'accept' or 'get used to' any defeat, but the fixture computer hasn't been kind to us in the arrangement of the first 7 games. However..... The next 4 games v Accies, St.Mirren, Well and Livi look crucial now to really see where we are. I don't deny that say, a defeat to Accies at home next week would (rightly) put pressure on AD, but, once these 4 matches have been completed the full round of games will offer a clearer picture. By then the squad should be settled, we should have a clear idea of the strongest starting XI, and have a sense of where the season might take us.....battling for a top 6 spot or battling more around the bottom. With the squad we have, we should certainly be able to win at least 3 of the games to come. Edited September 12, 2020 by Jedi2 -
bute-killiefan
Doesn't matter if he 'didn't mean it', but any Killie manager saying he's going home happy after a DEFEAT needs chased. That is tinpot stuff
