It’s the way if it on here at times. I don't think anyone could say he's no loss. However, the best of Alan Power has been and gone. We got the best period of his career and he was an incredible player, not at all over rated. That's not going to be replicated now though. Should have been capped multiple times and the day Power and Dicker played against and completely dominated a Hearts midfield with Whelan in it while being in an ROI squad showed that it was short-sightedness from ROI that was the issue and no fault of Power that he didn't get the caps he more than deserved.
Souleycouley93
Let’s be honest he’s on the downward slope of his career. He was a fan favourite and it’s difficult to see him leave especially for St Mirren but that is football. He will want to play on in top league and shirk any responsibility of staying and fixing his and others mess. Definitely will have had a clause and after what we have done for him it’s hard to see him going to someone like St Mirren. He was a warrior and player of the year a few times. Fondly remembered for Ryan Jack, crunching tackles and his midfield peak partnership with Dicker where they were best in country at one point. Very Disappointed to see him go but wish him well in future as he always gave 100%. But if he’s not willing to stick around to help out I’d rather we let him move on and get hungry players who want to be here and succeed.
kfc_superteam
I do wonder as well if he would have been picked. For me I think Stephen McGinn has been signed for his role

He hasn't been so effective in the last two seasons but there was a case to be made a couple of years ago. One U21 cap in 2007. Not quoted since then even during his spell of playing well when SC was manager. Jamie McGrath. Capped last year at 24. I think we over-rate Power because of the commitment he shows when he plays. He made a lot of mistakes last season that costs goals and points. He is part of the past by the looks of it and not the future. We move on with players committed to getting Killie back to the Premiership. -

McGinn is his replacement and then after one day back at work this story comes out. So the rumours a while back were probably because this was in place, we just didn't have the bodies to let him go.

Wrangodog
Another point is that he's probably made friendships with the players that joined the club around the same time as him and they have all gone. St. Mirren has players that he knows as well as any that are still here, so the choice to leave wouldn’t have been that big a wrench. I think he will do well with younger players around him and he will have regular rests when his inevitable suspensions kick in. Sorry to see him go.
Scouser2
players come, players go ...often when a player leaves it can for a time cloud the perception of some , for me Power has been one of the better and certainly one of the most committed players over past few years....certainly far better and made more positive impact than lot of others we seen at our club in recent years.. The focus will soon be on the new look team and the replacements brought in ....just have to hope they are proved to be better options

That's how I see it. Complete lack of mobility in midfield last season, got away with it under Clarke because the shape of the team was so good and everyone had a role which played to their strengths. Turned O'Donnell into Cafu on Friday! Power is a very tidy footballer but I can't get see you getting away with no pace against hungry teams in the championship unless you have Adam's range of passing and dead ball expertise (neither of which he has). Surprised at this, his last performance in Paisley wasn't great, caught on the ball a lot
Pompey Repatriated
I think he would have done a job this season but I think he only had one more session in him so not a massive loss. I do wonder why St. Mirren didn't rip up Brrophy's PCA. Hardly been a success there
Killiepies
Power would be one of the top midfielders in the championship that’s how he’s going to play in the premiership. There is not many if any premiership class players in the championship now Hearts and Dundee are gone Good players at that level are snapped up by premiership teams.Dom Thomas is one of the best players at this level and was deemed not good enough for the SPL.Transfer fees at the best are buttons compared to SPL fees. How much would Nisbet cost now ? Been a good player for Killie, but we have signed several midfielders and the timing suggests that there may have been a gentleman's agreement that he would be allowed to leave as soon as we had a replacement sorted. As far as the PCA is concerned, it gives security on both sides and Brophy could have sued St Mirren if they ripped it up. I think St Mirren are making mistakes which will be costly to them, but not our problem... -
Mcd
Power has been a great servant and player for us, however if he wants to move on then so be it no player bigger than the club. It is now time for TW / JF to get a couple of big names in who want to be at RP keep the momentum going.
piffer
I agree that Power should be a top player in the Championship. Im not sure he’s the CM we’d need in this division though. In games previously when we’ve seen a lot of the ball Power and Dicker weren’t the CMs we wanted in the team. They brought so much to the side but use of the ball and chipping in with goals weren’t among them. How many times was the comment made that we were crying out for them to take a risk or the shot was on and they went sideways. I’m guessing more teams will sit in against us next season and we need to be able to break that down. As I said earlier I’m really disappointed he looks to be away. The way St Mirren are likely to play as more of an underdog compared to the expectation of us as one of the favourites may suit him more

Robert
Disappointed in Power if he has asked to leave. If we are happy to see him go them great. In short we haven’t a clue what’s going on. Good luck to all the new players who want to be at our club.

Bbk
He was good for most of his time with us and if he has been told by our manager he might not be a guaranteed starter next season then good luck to him at least our yellow card statistics should be down a bit .
gdevoy
The team we had at the end of last season was simply not good enough for The Premireship. Nothing I have read on these boards indicates to me that we are even aiming too maintain that quality for our venture into the Championship. Will what we have / are left with be good enough for the Championship? Some seem to think we are well placed to finish 1st but nothing I have seen so far (????) suggests that is the quality TW is aiming for. -

Goalkeeper is still a big worry. The simple presence of Doyle gives me the fear. Hamilton isn’t the level I wasn’t hoping for but I guess the real quality probably don’t want to drop to our new level. In attack we are short. I’m looking forward to seeing how Cameron and Connell get on this season but we shouldn’t be reliant on them at this stage. We are still a work in progress at the moment. More bodies to come in and we can’t judge any squad until they’ve actually played some football

Last season it was fairly obvious that he had lost some pace and was conceding more fouls as a result... the same thing was obvious with Pascali over his last 18months. I liked the passion that both players showed but they were becoming a liability.

The players we gave signed look better quality than the players they are replacing. Naismith played in the Premiership last year. McGinn and Fraser Murray were at Hibs. Stokes looks a decent player. Euan Murray, Armstrong and Brad Lyons all look decent players. Not sure what you were expecting?
Riccarton Bluebell
Another that his best days are behind him. Those with memories will remember when he signed his three year deal, he said he wished it was a ten year deal as he loves the club. We move on with players that want to be with the Killie. If those players get us up they will be given legend status. That’s football.
