Bbk
A central defender who can tackle and pick a pass now thats a step forward for us now if Burke signs he will thrive in that kind of diagonal switch of play looks like a good piece of business by TW and JF id say!
Ngonge88
Watching the video, that's another one I'd of accepted if we weren't relegated. Looks a good standard
PrestersKtid
Liking the accuracy of those diagonal passes. Least it's not just some aimless lump forward.

Popular Post Killiecal
Saying all the right things... Defender vows to help Kilmarnock get back to Premiership straight away The defender spoke to Kilmarnock Standard Sports Editor Lochlin Highet about his move. Chris Stokes admits he was shocked to see a club the size of Kilmarnock being relegated. The English centre-back has heaped praise on the Rugby Park facilities – and has no doubts the Championship stay will be a short one. Stokes has been involved in plenty of promotion pushes during his time at Coventry City and Bury, and he also played for ambitious Forest Green Rovers. The 30-year-old can’t wait to get going in the club’s bid to get straight back up. Speaking exclusively to the Kilmarnock Standard, he said: “I was delighted to sign and it’s great to get going now after waiting for pre-season. “We’ve started well so far, we have got a good group, everyone is fresh and raring to go. “I am looking forward to it, it’s a great club and one that wants to get straight back up. I want to be a part of that. “The gaffer didn’t need to sell it to me, I’ve watched football all my life and I know how big a club Kilmarnock are. “He has tried to sign me before, so I’ve already had that relationship. “When I came up I met James [Fowler, head of football] and we had a good chat but again he didn’t have to sell it to me. “You walk out and see the ground, see what the club is like, and it’s a club that want to go straight back up that is a big selling point. “As a player you want to be a part of ambitious clubs and promotion pushes. “Looking at the ground and size of the club I don’t know how they are in the second tier. “But it happens. When I was at Coventry we were in League Two. I had it with Bury too, big clubs drop down. “You just need to rebuild and recover quickly, teams will see us as a big scalp so we need to be ready straight away. “The experience at those clubs will help me, I have always been fighting for promotion throughout my career. “That’s all I know really, so I can take that forward and hopefully help the young boys. “The aim is to bounce straight back and get promoted absolutely. “We have to take it one game at a time, but the ambition has to be to get this club back up. “We don’t want to fight at the middle of the table, we want to be up there and winning as many games as we can.” Stokes admits moving to Scotland for the first time was a huge call in his life – but he reckons it was the right one. He said: “When I first heard about the interest I took a back seat to take it in. “I had to assess things, it was a big move for me, coming from down south it was a big move for my family too. “But I weighed up my options, I had options in England but this is a new challenge. “I have never played up here before, I just thought this was probably my last chance to come up here. “I don’t know anyone at the club at all which is a strange experience for me. “Usually going to a new club in England I’d know some of the lads, and I’d know the opposition I’m playing against. “So that will be different for me, but the lads all seem great and I’m sure it won’t be long before we all know each other well.” He added: “We are all in the same boat, everyone is trying to get to know each other through team bonding. “We are going to Northern Ireland soon, so it’ll be good to have that close-knit work together before the season starts. “I think it helps that we are all in the same boat, no one is an outsider. “You have to integrate quickly, we need that togetherness both on and off the pitch. “The season is coming soon so we have to gel fast, hopefully when the football starts we will be ready to go.” When asked what kind of player fans can expect, Stokes said: “I am an intense player, I wear my heart on my sleeve. “I am always raring to go, I am always willing to put my body on the line. “I always give 100 per cent when I am on the pitch that’s for sure.” https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/ayrshire/defender-vows-help-kilmarnock-back-24391212

skygod
I fancy McGinn will be captain, but E Murray could be in the frame too. TW might watch and see who emerges as the obvious leader over the tour to NI. The new signing initiation songs could be a marathon concert to rival Live Aid!
Harrogate Peter
Got a positive feeling about all three potential captains listed here. 49 minutes ago, skygod said: I fancy McGinn will be captain, but E Murray could be in the frame too. Certainly think the on pitch leadership will be more constructive than last year and that can only be a good thing!

C4mmy31
spot on @Souleycouley93 ..... Tommy Wright has named Chris Stokes as our new club captain ahead of the 2021/22 season. Chris, who joined Killie from Forest Green Rovers this summer, takes the armband following Gary Dicker’s close season departure. The defender will be able to call upon three vice-captains including fellow centre back Euan Murray as well as Killie stalwarts Chris Burke and Rory McKenzie. Chris said: “I’m absolutely delighted that the manager has put the trust in me to be captain. I can’t wait to get going and hopefully lead the boys to success this season. “We’ve got people here who have been captains at their former clubs so they know the role as well and if they have to step in if I’m out then it will be a simple transition. “Chris and Rory have been here for a long period of time and they know the ins and outs of the club, which is helpful. In a new group you need boys who know the club and the supporters and Euan was the captain at Dunfermline so I’ll be leaning on all three of them.” The 30-year-old is edging close to a first Killie appearance after picking up a minor groin strain in pre-season and he’s looking forward to turning out at Rugby Park. He added: “Even though we’ve fallen back hopefully it is one step back and two forwards and we can get off to a good start and get the fans right on our side. “I think when you have that disappointment of relegation then you are always raring to come back and find that bit of success and that’s what we’re chomping at the bit for.” Tommy Wright added: “He’s been a captain before and has experience of winning promotions in England. People that I know told he was vocal and I’ve seen that as well on the pitch. “I’ve named three vice captains as well in Chris, Euan and Rory so they’ll likely form the players’ committee.” Edited July 1, 2021 by C4mmy31

Cill Mheàrnaig
Makes complete sense. With Murray, Burke and McKenzie as understudys it looks like we've got some good leaders in the squad.
Scouser2
No surprise given his experience and TW comments when we signed him , hopefully will be a positive influence both as part of a much better defence but also for the squad as a whole , and play vital role in better seasons ahead

piffer
Comes across very well. Strikes me as the type who appreciates that being captain is more than just standing at the front of the line with an armband on a Saturday afternoon

Excited for the new season and to see how this squad plays.
