Kilmarnock are set to confirm the signing of former Hearts star Dylan McGowan.

The Aussie-born defender - brother of 2012 Tynecastle Scottish Cup hero Ryan - has been capped once for his country and has been back in his homeland playing for Western Sydney Wanderers.

But SunSport understands that the 29-year-old - who played for the Tynecastle men in the 3-2 League Cup final defeat to St Mirren in 2013 - is set for a second stint in the Scottish game.

Killie boss Tommy Wright is bolstering his squad for their promotion campaign and the right-sided defender fits the bill.

Was good when he played here in Adelaide, was our best centre back the year we won the A-League although that was 5 years ago now. A look at the response to his departure from the Western Sydney supporters would suggest that he's regressed pretty quickly. He was the captain there so another one in the door who's a leader
