Socialising, and drinking habits have changed markedly in recent years, so it’s eminently sensible the Killie business model for revenue streams was reviewed. It may not be to universal approval, but everything that Bowie et al are doing to the environs of Rugby Park is a substantial upgrade. The superstore and the portacabin do not even bear comparison. The Blues restaurant relocated on the ground floor of the hotel is way better than the previous incarnation, in every aspect from quality of food, to surroundings and service. The new Pavilion is excellent. Really nice inside, great selection of food and drink and its dual purpose will mean it brings in revenue on match days for those looking their pre-match pint, and still be a good source of income during the week. Venues like this have to appeal to as wide a clientele as possible and it’s clearly been designed with this in mind. There’s no point in trying just to cater solely for the ‘traditional’ pre-football pub goer-there’s other options for that nearby and it would do neither the Brass&Granite, for instance, or the Park any good if they were effectively in direct competition with each other. If the Pavilion and The Blues do well, the football club will surely benefit in the long run. Yes, I know MrBowie will too, but maybe he’s entitled to see some return on the considerable outlay. I’ve seen quite a bit of sniping about the work going on and I’ll confess it baffles me. The area around the stadium is already looking much improved. Add in the training pitches and memorial garden, and by the time all of the proposed work is completed I am struggling to think of any ground in Scotland with a more functional, pleasant and welcoming environment, for fans attending games and folk spending their money. It may even help in player recruitment too. Everything that is happening off the pitch is with onfield improvements very much in mind. I am not saying that this regeneration won’t be without its flaws or its detractors, but you can’t deny the intentions are right. If all of this is what supporters “need to wake up to” then I’m sure we could think of much worse. Anyone want to return to the days of “They know where we are”? It’s inevitable that progress will leave some people cold. I hope not too many feel like this. There is definitely some sense of a new era dawning at Rugby Park and it would be a shame if some felt unable to buy into it. These things do happen though. Even to the aforementioned Mr Zimmerman after he ‘went electric’. He didn't do too badly though.

Even to the aforementioned Mr Zimmerman after he ‘went electric’. He didn't do too badly though. Absolutely spot on. For example the food in the Park Hotel whilst M.J. was running the show was awful. I stayed along the road and never went due to that. The food on the occasions I’ve been recently has been excellent. I’ve also used the beer garden outside the Hotel several times recently. Again it’s well run and I didn’t think the drink was too expensive. Visited the superstore on Friday. What a major facelift the shop has had. Much bigger, much more modern, and whether you like some of the kits or not, they were selling quickly. Some families were spending hundreds of pounds and leaving with 4 or 5 tops. Both my son and I left with new gear we love. To round this off the wife has just come in and told me we’re going to the Park Hotel tonight for dinner....happy days ?

Bowie does and he ran down and then closed the competition. -
Popular Post skygod
I really couldn't care less about how good the food, surroundings and service in the hotel are. It's not owned by the club, a small percentage aside. The superstore conversion was paid for by PM and BB is paying for the office installation work. Which is very generous of them but I'd like the club to be able to pay for such projects itself. Being in the Premiership would help with that. Any amount of pleasant environments won't eradicate the blow of relegation. An immediate return is essential. The capital project I'm most interested in is the training complex because we're a football club, first and last. I'd like the administration side of the club to be adequately resourced so we don't drop any more balls. And the most important progress is that on the pitch. If the team is successful, the commercial side will benefit, but the commercial side is unlikely to flourish if the team isn't successful. If the club can make the commercial side work for the benefit of the football - great. But the football must come first. Popular Post dasboag
Was in town today and said could we drop by on the way home. Little did I realise that it was about 4.48 when we pulled up outside.....we all know how that goes ? Think the shop is looking really good; the type of thing we should have. Much better use of the space - especially since that extension on the hotel will take any traffic on matchdays that aren't at their 'usual' pubs. Got my (depressingly large) home kit and its a peach. Love the fact that the sponsor is 'in' the jersey - makes a huge difference to the look and feel. The ladies in the shop were pleasant as ever and all went well. So positive experience all-round....whatever next? Edited July 19, 2021 by dasboag

Ktid1869
Was in this morning getting a couple of new strips, very impressed with the store, massive upgrade on previous shop. I got the gas sure logo on both strips with no problems and the staff were pleasant and chatting away.
