The yearly Matty Kennedy Post.

Didn't even get off the bench for Aberdeen last night.

Not the number 9 we need, but might be a good loan option as the second striker

Not sure he'd drop down.

I'd imagine he'll stay and fight for his place

Does sound like perhaps one of the possible striker targets is currently at another club and perhaps will only be allowed to leave as and when that club does their own transfer business …

we have if rumours are true missed out on couple of strikers who opted for other clubs but hopefully the long wait will prove worthwhile in the end

Innes Cameron scored 7 goals in 20 games for two teams who finished in the bottom 3 last season

Todorov was 9 in 26, Declan Mcmanus 9 in 27.

A little time to settle with the team

a little coaching and direction from management and senior players

and a lot of support from the stands and (the forums)

The answer to our problems might already be here.

Don't write him off too soon.

Maybe we need a bit more guile to get it to his feet.

Conor Sammon was hopeless until Eremenko arrived.

Brophy scored most of his goals from open play when we had Greg Stewart.

Hopefully Polworth can be that for Cameron.

latest update on the striker front....

At least he’s acknowledged that there is a possibility of bringing in more than 1 striker. His previous comments of bringing in only 1 worried me as that would have left us short.

I guess we’ll be waiting on other clubs, esp in England, doing their business to see who will be available, either for transfer or loan.

Difference is that both Brophy and Sammon had a bit of pace. Cameron is still as slow as he was two years ago.

Although I agree that we need to give him time and not write him off, it’s important to remember that he got those goals playing with teams at the bottom of the league, where he perhaps wasn’t expected and pressured to get 15 goals and fire them to the title. Playing with us he also won’t have anywhere close to the amount of space and time as he had in attack with those teams, as opponents will be much more likely to leave more men back in defence against us.

Kris Boyd was not blessed with pace and did ok

Kris Boyd was prolific all the way through his development from the youth team. I hope I'm wrong, but I don't recall Innes Cameron ever showing any particular promise.  A reasonable squad player, but no more than that.

Yes Kris was not a speed merchant but he was still quicker than Innes especially at that age. In addition he had a natural strikers instinct which was there for everyone to see at all levels of his career something I have yet to see with Cameron.

It is the "Forum" thing that he is a young boy. He is 21. A young player these days is 16/17.

Good luck to him but he appears not to have shown any great progress in the past 2/3 years. Hope I am wrong.

I'm curious about how many goals are likely to be needed to win this league?

In a 36 game season probably 60? I know how we defend affects what we might need but if we conceded a goal per game or thereabouts sixty feels about right to me.

So, if Innes or another main striker gets 15 there's still 45 to be found from the rest of the squad or, put another way, approximately three per squad member.

Seems like a lot to me when looked at like that.

Maybe Innes can get 15 but that looks doubtful to me and the arrival of a reliable 15 to 20 per season striker is really looking urgent!
