Hamilton Academical FC can confirm Head Coach, Brian Rice, has left the club.

Brian took over in January 2019, securing Premiership status in both 18/19 & 19/20 seasons, before relegation to the Championship earlier this year.

Chairman, Allan Maitland, said: “Today, without any previous indications, we received a letter of resignation from Brian Rice.

“Whilst it has come as a surprise, we now fully understand his reasoning for leaving at this time, and have, with regret, accepted his resignation.

“It has been an extremely difficult 18 months dealing with all the issues surrounding the pandemic, including the recent relegation from the Premiership, and there’s no doubt that it has taken its toll on Brian, his staff and everyone connected to the club.”

We would like to take this opportunity to thank Brian for his efforts and wish him every success in the future.

Hope he gets the help he needs if it is depression.

Too many men hide it and too many men also tell thise suffering to get a grip or to pull thensleves together.

Having had mental health problems in the past, and now have no shame admitting it, its a crippling and debilitating thing which infests every facet of yout life in a negative way.

Seemingly strong and content people often hide their utterly broken side until its too late.

Currently being in a job doesn't rule out any of the candidates - certainly not the last name on the list!

McCall's not going to swap the EFL Championship for the Scottish one.

Shane Lavery has started well there, by the way, with a goal in each of his first two games.
