Airplane? You must have been reading the BBC website. What is wrong with British English these days

IIRC It was a US military cargo ‘airplane’.  So like cosmonauts aren’t astronauts, it wisnae actually an ‘aeroplane’ like a spitfire IMO.

The US may have been the ‘good guy’ during WW2, since then it’s been continual interference in other countries affairs to achieve a regime that suits them. Iran / Vietnam / Laos / Cambodia / Chile / Cuba / Somalia / Iraq & many more.

Western media supports this narrative. 2004 I spent 3 months travelling through the Middle East and it was nothing like what we’re told.

As a UK passport holder I had to scratch around Eastern Turkey for weeks to gain an Iranian visa -Iran is a fantastic country, not one seconds hassle, no one tried to kidnap me or question why I was there. Incredibly  friendly, stunning sites such as the Islamic Square in Esfahan, people inviting you for tea, visit their house, incredible hospitality.

Syria was much the same ‘welcome to Syria’ everywhere you went, both countries were very advanced and developed, in Syria, Christianity was openly practiced.

I was suspicious of how the West portrays Iran.

I watched an interesting programme where a guy traveled to Iran and it looked as you described

Looked like BoJo was taking a real ear bashing for his total impotence over the Afghan debacle. Getting it from right and left. Letting women and girls down, letting our boys die over there for nothing,

Dont think it will have any impact on him as he has a solid brass kneck and appears to be totally teflon.

His popularity with his core fan base continues to soar!  It is genuinely incredible. He does not give a toss about anything - least of all the poor white numpties who vote for him - and doesn’t even bother to pretend he is in any way competent. Shrugs his shoulders ‘I don’t care why should anybody else be bothered?’. A bluff a bluster then off to the bar for a couple of bottles of red before shagging a ‘lucky’ intern young enough to be his granddaughter. That is what passes as a prime minister these days.

ITN news earlier, John Irvine reporting from Kabul.

”The protected Green Zone turned yellow as the Americans ran away”.

TV news journalists are supposed to be impartial! A laser guided missile piercing right through American credibility!

LMF or Lack of Moral Fibre was a punitive designation used by the Royal Air Force during the Second World War to stigmatize aircrew who refused to fly operations.

I thought Lisa Nandys speech was quite good and all the while Johnson sat there with his arms folded shaking his head, the body language very much showing disdain and disrespect. Your description of this incompetent is correct.

My take on it is, Johnson really doesn’t give two s**ts, as if “wasn’t us that put us in this situation, ask Tony” ,  he will look across the pond and see Biden say that the US will not be risking their soldiers life’s in others’ civil wars????? WTAF??? Does he know which country he’s in charge of? They have been involved in STARTING civil wars for decades.

Never did I expect the political landscape of the U.K. & US to look as ludicrous. Trump was bad enough, but Biden seems to living on a parallel universe.

Correct, since 1956 destabilising other countries - Iran wants to run its own oil industry - UK & USA don’t like it, CIA engineer an overthrow of democratically elected government bringing in the US puppet the Shah. This then lead to the 1979 Islamic Revolution as the Shah was corrupt and hated. Indirectly the US created the Islamic Revolution in Iran.

Presently reading a book with new released KGB files from the Cuban Missile Crisis. Bay of Pigs fiasco organised covertly by US misadventure leading  to the missile crisis.

It keeps happening time and time again,  at least with Vietnam,  Harold Wilson had bottle to resist US pressure to join in.

In the 60s and 70s it was Marxism and communism that were the "evils" the US was gallantly fighting. Now since 2000 it is Islam that represents the straw man evil  the gallant US must fight.

Actually if you stand back and look at it without allowing the western meeja to screw up your thinking you see that the evil here is capitalism and the corruption it brings and fuels. In Vietnap the Viet Cong were fighting the captialist corruption of the Saigon government. Why do you think the people supported them in the face of a rain of agent orange from the sky? In Iran it was the Islamic mullahs who were fighting against the corruption of the Shah. Why do you think Islam is so popular with the poor? Because it says to chop somebody's hand off if it us in the till.

Just like Iran the majority in Afghanustan support Islamic ideals because they say you should feed the poor and corruption is bad. When you are starving women's rights come a long way down your priority list. In the US getting to the top any which way you can us admired, even if you piss on the poor. Why do you think the Americans are so hated in Pakistan.

Meanwhile we in the UK are marching to the beat of the US drum with an over privelaged moron with a paid for education in charge handing out huge bungs to his pals and everybody here seems to think he is wonderful.
