Some folk cannot see what is going on or refuse to do so. A complete ban  on the hotel from the fans is what is needed. Read up on Third Lanark.

I’m not up in all the politics hotel vs park suite, but I recall reading about the demise of Third Lanark. One man, think his name was Huddleston? Got a hold of the club with the aim of putting houses on Cathkin. No admin or liquidation in these days, within weeks at end of 1967 the club ceased to exist.

it was a warning, one man with the wrong intent can destroy a club.

Crying shame, my dad tells me of great games v the HI Hi in the early 60s. Thirds would have been a great rival for us, a southside Partick Thistle.

Cathkin well worth a visit, it’s said if you stand on the centre circle in the dead of night you can still hear the roar of the crowd!

The inference from this is that you think there is a similarity between what happened to Third Lanark and the situation at Killie.

That would be a very serious suggestion as Bill Hiddleston was fraudulently diverting money from the club for his own use. Only his death prevented his being brought to justice.

Competition between the hotel and the club for hospitality custom is hardly comparable, unless you have evidence of something more.

No evidence but the signs are there. More interest in his hotel than that of the club is blatantly obvious. I do hope I am wrong.

So similar to what Marie Macklin wanted to do? And some were all for it because they hated MJ so much... That dodged bullet could prove to be the most important in our history.

Interesting. On that theme (know we are moving off topic a bit) I can clear up a few misconceptions about the Halo which have been posted on various threads from time to time.

Around 2012 Centrestage hosted Marie Macklin, it was an event to discuss ideas for the Halo, there were about 80 people there from various sections of the community. By chance EAC Chief Executive was in my discussion group.

Anyway it was revealed an 8,000 capacity stadium with retractable roof & astro grass pitch was to become the centrepiece of the vast Diageo site. We were assured the plan was not for Kilmarnock FC to move there, but it would be multi use for other sports, it was mentioned the possibility of Glasgow Warriors playing some matches there, it would also be used for concerts - The idea was to have Beyoncé open it, that did seem incredibly ambitious as up to then she had never played in the UK or so it was mentioned.

It did seem a bit strange to me that a town with a population of 45,000 needed both an 18k and a 8k stadium. Over the years unsurprisingly the stadium plan was dropped there. Was MJ approached and hunted her - I have no idea?

Surely Bowie is allowed to make a profit on his hotel, he won’t be making a profit on the football side of things.

Agree.

Surely the better Bowie does financially, the better we will be as a club. He's not been shy about putting his hand in his pocket before.

Can't see how the hotel can hope to thrive without a reasonably successful football club on its doorstep.

Surely Bowie is enough of a businessman to realise that?

I would think football related business would be a relatively small proportion of the total business. Many sports stadia

Given the town's geography and even hotels location within the Town  my guess would be that the correlation between Club's success and hotel's revenue is pretty high.

Pre  pandemic the hotel had regular income from:

* foreign visitors on bus tours

* funeral purveys

* business meetings

* coffes/lunches

* party nights

* weddings

Restaurant bookings also improved greatly when moved downstairs.

I’ve always been curious, where we park we walk past Springhill bowling club and see supporters pouring out on their way to the game. Can you nip in there on match day for a pint or do you need to be a member?

Bowling clubs used to be members only but most are struggling(before Covid restrictions),think you would be able to get signed in as a guest no problem but somebody on here should be able to confirm if that’s the case

There surely has to be some give and take between the hotel and the club. Offering season-ticket holders hospitality that is £35 cheaper, with an hour's extra drinking time and an extra course on the meal is knocking the club’s hospitality for six. The club for their part have played into the hotel's hands by cutting drinking time to one hour and providing a two course meal instead of three. Hospitality is meant to be a special occasion where you can take your time, eat, drink, and socialise, not a one hour race to eat a meal and down a few drinks.

Completely agree…used to be a good day out for about £20 less

Arrive at 12:30ish, 2.5 hrs to drink and eat and then have time pre game for some comedian to keep you entertained before kick off. Back down for your pie at half time and then an hour or so drinks after match before being shuttled along to the bar next door for more drinks

Sounds great from a consumer's point of view but did the club make money from it?

Not everybody at hospitality rams as much drink down there throats as they possibly can,some tables will be profitable some won’t!think the majority on here see a day out on the sauce as hospitality while the club see it as something different

If they see it as just a meal and a couple of drinks then they aren't going to compete with the hotel. I don't see that as a special occasion. It doesn't have to be a boozefest, but an hour before kick-off isn't really long enough. If the club can't compete then maybe go for a slimmed down version. We did a curry night for a midweek game, maybe try Chinese or Italian themed meals. It seems a shame that we built the hospitality lounges and glass viewing area but rarely fill them. We need to face the fact that there aren't a guaranteed three sell-out hospitality games against Celtic and Sevco any more and try to find a balance between breaking even and being competitive.
