skygod
I won’t argue but the French for turkey is Dinde, pronounced Dan-de. Edited August 31, 2021 by skygod

Scouser2
Excellent listen yet again , Freddie was a very decent defender for us , but more so one of those cult heroes who will be fondly remembered especially by those who seen him play during that period.
John M Clark
An all time favorite for me and my grandson. A very talented left sided centre back, something that was very valuable in a team. At that time we lived in EK, and lo and behold during his time at Killie he lived in EK. When we took my grandson out in the car he always wanted us to go past FD's house.

Killie Histories
A huge response in listener numbers for this episode! As a little extra, here is a video clip of Freddie discussing his distinctive style. The podcast is deliberately audio only but, every now and then, a bit of video helps to tell the story... Waverley
Being corrie-fistit and fittit, I’m always drawn to lefties and big Freddy is up there with Gerry Queen as the coolest guys that I’ve seen with Killie, absolutely majestic!
BigHolly1957
Gerry Queen , one of my first ever heroes ... as a wee boy I got his autograph and spent ages trying to copy it .. have for years followed Crystal Palace after he was transferred there.
skygod
Remember Gerry’s debut at Douglas Park when he scored twice iirc. I remember this big, strong, very upright player running down the left wing brushing off defenders. It was something we hadn’t had before. He went to South Africa after playing, I think, then was coaching in Florida. A Killie Histories interview would be good!

He ran with his fists closed and thumbs up! ? (I’ve just checked, he scored 8 goals in his first 8 games. 5 goals in the league and 3 in the cup) Edited September 7, 2021 by Waverley Clarity.

If he could be tracked down and he was willing and able to be interviewed that would be great.

I did some initial digging and could trace Gerry's coaching on his club's website circa 2015 in USA, but nothing beyond that and I don't have a contact at all. Gerry played in - arguably - Kilmarnock's most high-profile game of all time, the Fairs Cities semi final of 1967 against Leeds. A story I would love to explore.
