Headed into administration.

Have they had long standing financial issues or is this the first club feeling the costs of the pandemic.

The whole situation is a complete mess, and as usual it will be the fans, club employees and local businesses that will suffer. All goes back to 2016 when Mel Morris bought the club. Take 5 years of absurd transfer spending, spiraling wages, and questionable accountancy practices and you have the situation their in.

Covid is just a convenient smoke screen as they are already heading for a 9 point deduction for the accounts approach (3 years currently being reassessed to see if they've breached FFP). Administration will clear debts and allow Morris to finally sell- and screwing over people is just seen as colatoral damage.

Nine points from safety with 29 matches to play, so far from certainties for relegation.

The likes of Cardiff, Peterborough, Barnsley and Hull are all on bad runs of results and are eminently catchable. I'm not convinced Rooney is the best man for the job and they could do a lot worse than getting Neil Warnock in as an adviser.

They are 18 points from safety.
