Glasgow Warriors

Yes, they showed why they are European Champions. Fantastic hands in the midfield and defended without error.

Gray going off early was a blow for us, but never wining that game I'm afraid - too many mistakes and a lack of confidence to attack.

However, we lost our first Pro12 final and came back to win. hopefully lessons learning by getting to the Euro quarter final.

One of the best days out though. Glorious weather and a great set up at Saracens. Everyone invited on to the pitch after to let kids of all ages play and to sit down to watch the next game on the big screens while having beer. Most of the players stayed out for a while too to mingle with the fans. Not a G4S steward in sight either. All stewarding was done by supporters - an interesting idea. Nothing but impressed by Sarries on and off the pitch.

Good point.

When you see how the big French teams yo-yo up and down, and one or two of the English clubs too, you wonder how sustainable it all is for them. Saracens in particular, don't have much bigger a fan base that Warriors. However, the Big Derby Day project at the weekend saw over 151,000 fans attend two games. This helps boost the coffers of the Premiership teams. The Celtic teams have smaller, more manageable budgets and, interestingly, provided 3 of the Champions Cup quarter finalists. The two Irish teams who got through will get a min of £300k for the next game. How Warriors could have used that !

It's easy to say that not making the play offs for the first time in 6 seasons is a poor effort, but we will qualify for the Champions Cup again, made the last 8 this year and, as mentioned, with a new world class coach coming - next season should be better. My understanding is also that the Pro12 are looking to avoid league fixtures on 6N weekend next year so that should help us as we are the club most affected by international call ups. Here's hoping anyway !

This is a good signing. Not as good as Ali, more exciting than Henry, can play 9, 11, 14 or 15 and has vision, pace and strength.

Won't be away during the 6 nations and, I'm told, has screwed the nut in terms of some of his daft-boyness in the last couple of years.

Al we need is the other Weegie From Fiji back .....

Got away with one last night. Shingler missed an easy penalty to give Cardiff the lead with 2-3 minutes remaining. Warriors fought back well but at times were over elaborate in difficult, wet, conditions. The A scrum were being pummeled about by Cardiff but the B scrum got to grips with them better.

S4C coverage was in HD unlike BBC Alba.

Too many handling errors at the weekend. Listening to the Exeter coach afterwards suggests they were a bit more clued up on the conditions than we were. However, played the English Champions away and were within a winning score of any kind with 2 minutes to play. Need to be positive.. must win on Saturday though !

Saracens looking ominous .....

European exit looming for Warriors. Their downfall started just before half-time when a monster kick from Hogg just went over their dead ball line and from the resulting scrum Leinster just bludgeoned their way over the line. Some nasty head injuries for Warriors players which didn't help but overall ended up well beaten. Only real positive was Hogg looking lively on return from injury.

Yes - massive error which meant they had their tails up at half time. It was, however, a very poor second half performance and the amount of head knocks were incredible - Gibbons didn't know if it was New York or New Year and Wilson was insisting he was fine - a sure sign that you're not.

I think Dave Rennie will know realise that the group stages in Europe are not about flair, but about competing up-front, especially when these teams are much more experienced in the front row that we are and their back row are going to stop our midfield from moving.

Easily the poorest home result since 2012 I'd say but hopefully something to learn from.
