Yep. Not only does Polworth play more football than any of the other options for his position, but when he does so, others around him play more football. A few lovely moments of 1-2s and nice passing moves yesterday, where previously I feel we'd have hoofed it or moved the ball on too quickly.

having both wide players on top form especially at home, stretches a defence and makes an opposition worried, it also then gives room for other players to make runs into vital areas in support

as seen v Aberdeen , by us also playing wide men it gave likes of Watson the freedom to venture forward a lot more, and sometimes not covered,  with Aberdeen more worried about our wide men

Watched Killie for 45 + years. That game yesterday easily in my top 10, maybe even in top 5. Well done Derek McInnes, staff and all the players⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️

All credit to the ball boy on the main stand side for his assist in the build up to the second goal.

Credit to McInnes he got it bang on yesterday and it showed. Every player to a man played well, it was a great performance. 
 

Does beg the question though, why have the likes of Polworth, Watson, Wales and Murray been squad players this season for the most part when they can put in performances like that.

Yip finally glad to see some ball boys switched too many are caught watching the floodlights at times when we’re looking for the ball and instant when the opposition look for it

Really? I’d say he’s extremely consistent. He makes mistakes but who doesn’t.

He has paid the price at times when the manager wants to prioritise our off the ball strengths rather than on the ball.

I can't agree about Polworrth being inconsistent, he's no different to the rest of the squad in that respect. We were excellent last season when he was brought in and got a decent run of regular starts. It's no coincidence that our wee unbeaten run is when he is brought back into the team, would be one of the first names in the team every week for me.

 he isn't perfect and in some away games he does struggle

but if played with a more mobile worker alongside him, and if rest of team is playing well...then Polworth can be an advantage

If he was consistent to the level he was yesterday he wouldn’t be at killie unfortunately!

We are a different team when he’s in the midfield and we are much more entertaining/adventurous when polworth is playing well.

As spot on a comment as I've read on here. If DM is matching up against the other team's weaknesses, Polworth tends to be the sacrifice, rightly or wrongly.

Aberdeen lined up with Shinnie in the middle. He's as mobile as my oven, so Polworth was never getting closed down quick and would have the time and space to do damage.

You should have been in East Stand towards the Chadwick end then - one of the best atmospheres in a long time!

I think the question was posed on her couple of weeks back about who I'd keep out of the out of contract players and I wrote off Magennis, Murray and Wright. Since then it's been a space jam level of difference in most of these players. Murray looks sensational and was my MOTM against Aberdeen. Wright back to the form he was in that got us 4th. Magennis back and contributing, albeit not many minutes. Even Cameron against Celtic, Hearts and Aberdeen showing he's a valuable player who contributes when asked.

Probably the best performance under McInnes and definitely the 90 minute performance he's been asking for since the season started.

I'd take a point at Easter Road and follow it up with two home wins to conclude a very strong festive period.

And, if he was consistently as good as he is when at his best, he would be nowhere near Killie! Let’s just enjoy his good games and be patient when he is slightly off the boil.
