Shot stopping wise he was top class. I loved the guy. We really got a gem there and I was honestly surprised we kept him so long and he did not get more caps. Although saw him play once and he had a nightmare, dude could be highly emotional and lose the plot. Probably had more consistent keepers but talent wise he the best I seen at Killie by some distance. Dropped as big a clanger as ive ever seen, Against Aberdeen I think it was. Fumbled it through his hands standing in the line, a real howler. They can all do it. Liked him though. Not as good as Fegusson, Forsyth, mcLaughlin, mCCulloch, Stewart to name just a few though. 1 Quote

He also had more saves in 1 game than any other keeper I've seen against Aberdeen. The game zorro scored in first min. Then Aberdeen pummelled us for 90 mins. We won 1-0 1 Quote

Absolutely no evidence of that… McCrorie picked up an injury at the start of June which probably explains why he wasn’t involved against AZ or Ayr tonight - SK making sure he has an experienced goalie in place for the League Cup games with Beach in reserve which would allow Armour to move out on loan for game time Sounds like sensible management to me 4 Quote

Loved Drago, but Jim Stewart was my first love. Never been so starstruck as the night he did the medals for Stewarton Annick at The Centre. I was a keeper at that age (1975 ish?). Then Alan McCulloch came along and I realised I was going to be promiscuous in my goalkeeper love. Then I didn’t grow much and became a winger then a full back 😂 4 Quote

And yes Drago was both prone to errors and mentally insanity but talent wise he was amazing. First keeper I remember was Geddes. Was someone else in goal before but was not overly memorable. Always heard about the great keepers of the past. Like I said only comment on ones you seen. 0 Quote

Certainly no guarantee we can even if he wants to but why would Beach hang around if there no chance of signing ? 0 Quote

Don’t know if it was the same game but I remember a similar goal going straight through him and when the bench we’re going nuts he just shrugged and said it was the sun in his eyes, only problem with his excuse was it was an overcast day! 0 Quote

Again I reiterate talented keeper he was, perfect keeper he was not. Probably had safer hands in like say Gordon Marshall but pure talent wise Drago was amazing. Thought he would gradually cut out the silly errors over time but he never really did tbh but it still sort balanced out as he would make saves others would not. Personally loved the guy, flaws and all. That example of him saying Sun was in eyes I think I remember it as it was worst excuse ever. What you going to do? It already happened, cannot change it now. 1 Quote

He has been offered facilities with a professional football club with the opportunity in a couple of games - as a professional that sounds a lot more appealing than doing some solo pre-season work. We need three keepers for the start of the season (next week) and with McCrorie injured and Stryjek only just signed we obviously needed some additional keepers for pre-season It was also mentioned in another thread that a loan deal had been lined up for Armour so Beach would be 1 of 3 keepers left at the club. 1 Quote

Well you need an agreement with a club and each club can only make a cooperation agreement to loan players from one club. Each club can have an agreement to loan players to one club in each division. So it not like it straightforward and always going to workout for all players who you want to send on loan. Ideally it would be a yes but I not clear whether this is a priority or not. Still think the preference is to get Robbie off the wage bill which is the logical thing to do given his high wage. Honestly signing never made sense. If you really believed in him a 2 year deal was rather short but on those wages not believing in him a 2 year deal was rather long. I dunno why we did not try to agree a loan option with purchase price that we had right to buy if he impressed. I would even have allowed more money longer term if we did not pay full wages on the loan and paid a fee that was more than the difference if he was worth it. Lower risk. Anyway really makes no sense to keep him if we can get someone to take him, if we cannot then he fights for his place and no point signing beach. Issue might be that for a keeper the loan club might not want a cooperation loan for their starting keeper. Anyway all gets very complex so we just let club do their thing and we wait and see. -1 Quote
Harrogate Peter Posted July 6, 2025 Report Posted July 6, 2025 Gordon Marshall was the best for me. Always preferred a large dominating keeper but the role has changed a lot in recent years. 0 Quote

Leko just could do things no one else could, he just also did a lot of dumb things too. Marshall I thought was past his best when he came here but damn he was still good. Really was a safe pair of hands, commanded that box and very reliable shot stopper. Lost a little agility but his positioning and decision making was so good he made up for it compared to most keepers. Fantastic signing he was. Another Score board icon too. Think it was Yogi Hughes powered in a header, and in my memory, Sellic players and fans were already celebrating when Drago clawed it away at full stretch (high to his left)? I'm sure I recall pictures of Hughes looking crestfallen afterwards as we celebrated like mental. Recall seeing my normally placid father flicking the Vs at the Celtic fans. Totally out of character, but totally justified! 1 Quote
