DuncanEwart
Mrs Ewart and me were in here before the theatre last night. It's a place I always seem to forget about for some reason (it's ten years since I was last in). Great service and as fine a plate of gnocchi as I've had.
Merk
Myself and 3 others popped in last night pre Pylon and it was superb. Like yourself I forget it's there despite being a regular when I stayed in Woodstock St years ago.
Mister Y
I was in last night as well. It's been consistently good since it opened and that must be going on 20 years now.
Dieter's Heeder
Popped in last week, first time in 3 or 4 years. Amazing food and good service. Definitely won't be leaving it so long until I next go back.
Monty1998
Decided at last minute to treat Mrs Monty. Managed to get in late on Saturday. Food was excellent as usual , staff knowledgeable and happy to take time to discuss dishes and wine. ( yes and not your average tonic Eldorado type) . It never stops to amaze me the amount of people in this area who have never been to this eaterie. Have to ask WHY???? Ps no connection with owners or staff. Also attended the Craigie Inn recently and found food excellent. Yes the environment is slightly dated but can't my head around the "food expert " from daily record complaining about broth being soup of the day in summertime. Wee tip hen if you don't want a plate of hearty soup in summertime opt for something else!!!! Instead of moaning. Ya twat... sorry for the minor rant. But discussed this with Mrs Monty during our meal at da Vinci and neither of us could remember ordering food because of the season. I assume like most "read the menu and choose what you fancy" Anyways few beers, full stomach, even a draw at the football. happy days
DuncanEwart
Mrs Ewart and me were in the Craigie Inn on Friday night. I thought the review in Saturday's "Daily Record" was very mean spirited and made it sound like she had her dinner in the Land That Time Forgot. Incidentally, Tam Cowan gave the Craigie a very good review in "The Sun" the other week.

Hopefully this review doesn't effect business to much.
DuncanEwart
The two times I've been in the Craigie since it re-opened (a Sunday afternoon and a Friday night), there wasn't a lot of people in the place.
aldo
I read the tam cowan review of the craigie, he kept referring to it as on the outskirts of killie. I've always thought it was a bit far out to be described as outskirts. is he right or wrong?
diamond_geezer
I had never been in CDV until the other evening . Thought it was more than decent ,nice atmosphere, friendly staff and enjoyable food . Who says the killieforum is useless , I'd never have gone otherwise !
Scooter
There was a Cafe Da Vinci in Irvine years ago and all I remember about it was they served everyone a whole cooked cauliflower with their meal. Bit strange but there you go. Wonder if it's the same owner... maybe give it a go after these good reports.
diamond_geezer
A whole cauliflower? Everyone ? Cheese sauce , you didn't specify. Anyway , probably not the optimal portion control but sounds intriguing.

Been going to it for years and ive always felt its been alot better since its been Adesso. Infact ive never had a bad meal in the place. Highly reccomend it.

Killie1984
It was / is. Wasn't impressed last time I was in Da Vincis. Food was average at best and service very lacklustre
Stefanus
Phone number not connected and restaurant all shut up. Anyone any gen? Always seemed fairly busy and have never been disappointed with any meal ( or service ). Would be a real pity if it’s gone too.
Beaker71
Head up to Glasgow and try la laterna opposite the hope street side of central station. Best Italian in Scotland IMO.

Their Facebook page says they're having problems with their phone but bookings can be made using Facebook Messenger. I think they also open for lunch but close again for a couple of hours in the afternoon before evening service. Panic over.

diamond_geezer
I like La Lanterna. Amarone is ghastly chain , hideous in every respect . It sullys the name of that splendid Italian wine . Edited March 30, 2018 by diamond_geezer
DuncanEwart
The breaded goat's cheese salad in the Craigie Inn is very nice indeed. I can recommend it.
