We are now in "overtime". I think if Killie were incapable of playing matches at RP two months after the agreed deadline, people would certainly be critical of the club.

All the folk moaning on here about being inconvenienced with the Hearts situation will then be defending Kilmarnock’s inability to have a pitch ready for the agreed deadline. If Hearts’ ground isn’t ready for our game in November, there’s not a whole lot anyone on here can do about it. A good moan is a good moan, but wait until the boot is on the other foot. We’ll be begging teams to swap/delay fixtures in the next year or so. When we replace the carpet we will more than likely be needing a favour of one or two teams to postpone or switch venues for the first month or two of the season, we will however, not be going out with the begging bowl to potentially inconvenience the same club twice. Remember we have already done Hearts a favour by switching the fixtures around. This game was scheduled to be played at Rugby Park with our earlier meeting due to be in Edinburgh, but we agreed to switch around to assist them getting the stand ready hence why we had 4 homes at the start of the season and now find ourselves with a run of 4 aways. If the ground isn't ready and Hearts are looking for a postponement or to come back to RP again we would be well within our rights to be difficult, as we have already helped them out once, now they could be looking for a helping hand again.

We’ll be begging teams to swap/delay fixtures in the next year or so. Will we be begging teams to swap fixtures in November? If we relay the pitch, I'd be confident we'd have it done for the league season starting. Perhaps ask for an away fixture to start at most. Hearts said they'd be ready start of September. We swapped fixtures in good faith thinking we'd be away to them in November. It now looks like that deadline will be missed. They now have 8 home games in a row, do you think that is a good thing for the league? We've also got Killie fans (and probably Hearts fans) who've booked time off for this game/made travel plans/booked hotels (plenty Killie fans have) for a fixture that is now in doubt. If Hearts had been honest at the outset then folk might not moan but there was no way on earth they were meeting the original deadline. The seat excuse doesn't wash either. They are still put parts of the concourse/roof up! But you carry on moaning about folk quite reasonably having a moan about the shambles. We managed to rebuild a stadium without moving games from RP!!

You are massively exaggerating.

plunkit
Lifted a 4G pitch is a longer operation than lifting a grass pitch because of all the gubbins below it. You then have to start from scratch with drainage and layers up to the surface. It would be a challenge to get this done and allow the pitch to settle in during the summer break.

I've got a garden fork and I could start next week........ Seriously, if it is a big job then the quicker we get started the better. Another good reason to avoid the playoffs. -

Well it's going to need to be done at some point. We managed to lay it and all the s**te that goes with tit so taking it up and putting down a grass pitch shouldn't take longer?
red_dug
In an ideal world we would seed a new pitch but i doubt we will have time/weather for that. Hampdens past problems is a great example of how hard it can be to get turf to knit. Its going to be a huge operation to lift all the bottoming and tarmac. Saying that, Bowie is bound to know a haulage contractor who would pull out all the stops. Won't be cheap though.
Pompey Repatriated
To me we must put in a hybrid surface but again that'll cost. Mind you at least Gus Hollas and his bucket of sand aren't around so that might give a traditional pitch more of a chance!
ross1987
Don't know about the whole system, but it would take no time at all to rip out the tarmac and level it with a decent civils contractor.

Hearts managed to get their first 6 or so games away due to their stadium not being ready. Surely we could apply for same if we have no playable pitch?

Which led to us playing Kaiserslautern on a sand dune. As I recall, it wasn't THAT bad for KR game. -

When I got home and watched the tape it was all about keeping off the grass pre match and Gus wandering round spreading stuff on it. Fair enough. Clearly not as bad as 'remembered'

That would surely give us a bit of space if we encountered any problems, provided it was earmarked to be done for next season. Aye, if we avoid play off then our last game is 12/13 May.

Do away with the junior cup final, and hope we don't end with the play-offs again. You're looking at 8.5/9 weeks. Worst case scenario. Junior cup is the 27th may. reduces it to 6.5/7 weeks of no senior men's football activity. Don't know when the ladies season re-starts.

Budge claimed it was not ordering the seats that caused the September delay in opening. Presumably the roof could be done without the seats and should have been completed in September? I'd be surprised if this game is at Tynecastle - unless they sign Bob the Builder over the weekend. This is a PR saga reminiscent of the Romanov years!
BigYin
I’d be happy if it was at Murrayfield. Would nullify any Home advantage they’d have being at Tynecastle plus Murrayfield is only a 10 min walk from my house. Tynecastle isn’t a million miles further but Murrayfields closer for me
