Derek McInnes

This news made tonight’s super scoreboard a must listen. Plenty of we didn’t want him anyway and what’s Derek McInnes ever done from Sevco fans.

The cries of get Gio Van Bronkhorst in were my favourite. Did you know Rangers are a far bigger club than Feyernoord and only a fool wouldn’t take the Rangers job despite Feyernoord being Dutch champions and just eliminated from the Champions league.

Id love to know McInnes reasons for not going. Is his statement true or has he been made aware of details that have said to him don’t touch this with a barge pole. So many rumours about the rotten state of that club that just don’t go away

Kris Boyd has had an absolute nightmare today. From his column, to his chat with Jim white to his performance on sportsound tonight. He has plummeted to new depths. I think it has to be one of the other, he is making a mockery of being our supposed main striker, which is you ken, a rather important job

And this evening Sevco release a lovely statement with words their supporters will never understand which basically translates as we put all our eggs in one basket and he said no thanks.

THERE has been a great deal of media speculation regarding the appointment of a new manager. We assure all supporters that they will be the first to know when we are certain we have someone with the correct qualities required by our club.

The Chairman made it clear at the AGM that the club did not consider there to be an outstanding candidate among those who had applied for the position and the club was therefore considering managers currently under contract. This requires permission from their present clubs.

The position of Rangers manager requires an ability to win football matches and the mentality to cope with the demanding off-pitch environment that goes with being the Rangers manager. This is a critical aspect of our assessment of any candidate during the interview process.

After the two games against Aberdeen, we requested permission to engage with their manager to assess his readiness and willingness to consider the Rangers position. This was declined. We were subsequently made aware by Aberdeen’s statement that, at this stage in his career, it would be best for him to remain in his current post. We endorse that position because moving to a massive club like Rangers is a big step with concomitant risk. We continue to consider candidates but will only appoint someone in whom we have full confidence and who feels he is ready for the job.

In the meantime, we have great confidence in Graeme Murty, who will continue as interim manager at least until the end of the year. The manner in which he has approached this task is a credit to himself and the club.

McInnes has not spoken publicly for a week. Stuart Milne announced McInnes is staying.

I'd be interested to get McInnes's personal take on it. His failure to distance himself from Sevco over the last month has been quite stark and cant have done much to endear him to the Sheep supporters associations.

Plenty of sheep fans had had enough yesterday and weren’t impressed by the way this all played out. Feeling McInnes hadn’t shown them respect.  I haven’t had a chance to have a decent look at social media to see how that’s changed.

Its worth noting he’s lost three of his last four in the league including a crucial double header so their fans may be getting a bit concerned anyway.

Sounds to me they are backtracking after being knocked back.   Do they forget they were the ones who approached Aberdeen about employing McInnes in the first place?  If they are doing their jobs properly they should be questioning why he knocked them back and not issuing childish statements.

Such a statement sums up the complete lack of class of those charged with running their club.

Looks like Sevco wanted McInnes to walk from Aberdeen before they discussed the job with him.

McInnes was not prepared to do that but he clearly wants the job. So Milne has a discontented Manager and the Sheep fans are well pissed of with him.

So it all works in Sevco's favour because the Sheep are now f**ked as a competitive force to the end of the season and they don't have to pay out anything.

I don't really see how this is true although I've read it many times. Most teams go through a bad spell at some point during the season, they lost two games to Rangers in a week and are still level with them. Why would that gap all of a sudden grow and stop them being competitive. I think the Aberdeen fans will quickly get over this if they start winning games again.

Im not sure. I think McInnes knows what he has at Aberdeen and that a strong club who stand by him 100%.

I think the real issue here is Rangers couldnt afford the money for the release clause so tried to force his hand via the media for him to walk but he didnt follow the script and will now be cast as the panto-baddie over the next few days.

I fully expect if we get decent results in the next 2 games. The media will go into meltdown about Clarke to Greyskull. The week before we play them will be like the McInnes saga all over again. “He must go!!!, He’s what rankurs need!!, this is who they should have went for !!!” Etc. Etc.

This is so typical of the media to help put doubt into teams against old filth.

Hopefully Clarke would tell them to stick it like McInness. And stay true to his word about being here for the next few years.
