cs1
Live a few miles away. Snow was there on Boxing day morning and has not snowed since. They are at it big style. Edited December 27, 2017 by cs1
Dillinger
That's shocking that there's an improvement in the pitch. If that work had been done earlier it would be on.
Killie1970
Scum Club. Shocking and they shouldn't get away with this. They know we're on form, they've known about the weather and they know they don't have a full squad. Cheating bastards.

U-turn now on way back home. Ghee1869
They managed to clear the pitch in under an hour... How little effort does it take to not clear it throughout the day? Even by accident fs
SCOOT KFC
Really gutted about this. Have been looking forward to the game for days! At least now we will have a rested squad for hibs!

Such systems shall be fully utilised by the Home Club before any League Match or Play-Off Match where there is a reasonable possibility of its pitch otherwise being frozen or covered in snow or ice so as to ensure that the League Match is able to take place at the venue and on the date and time scheduled notwithstanding such possibility. I’ll just leave this here before folk get too excited about undersoil heating. Don’t worry it only took seconds to find it again @Scooby_Doo I'm surprised that you had to look it up. Don't you know this basic information?
Garnkirk20
No effort to clear pitch made by Hamilton at all. SPFL should be looking into this. Seriously hope Accies go down this year.

casual observer
Their “pitch protection system” seems to have been a layer of snow. Joke outfit! Scouser2
Blatantly obvious Accies do no real work to clear the pitch till the ref arrived, then they have tried to cover it up by saying work had been going on all day.......total lie ...... I arrived in hamilton around 4.30 , the pavements which the sun had not touched had a thin coverage of frost/snow ...other areas were clear ......and it was not that cold compared to previous times ...if they had cleared the pitch in the morning and put covers on then the pitch would been totally playable
piffer
Had a look at Hamilton statements and fans comments on Twitter. All completely contradictory of each other. Hamilton have been caught out here and should be punished severely for it. Warning should have been given early the game is at risk. Is protocol not to call in a local SFA ref or official as soon as there is any threat to the game. To say they were taking into account fans safety but delaying until most fans have started travelling is ridiculous. We got onto the 77 and turned round some will have got further. How do fans recoup costs for this bad management. Buses ain’t cheap.
Souleycouley93
Been totally buzzing for this all week . As have many other fans a crowd pushing 2000 of us heading up wanting a game . Hamilton and Kilmarnock giving no indication that game would be in doubt until after five . Leaving and calling game off near half six when most people have made the journey is scandalous . Hamilton never intended having fixture on . Letting snow lie as a cover knowing the temperatures would be low leading to ice allover pitch is clearly deliberate. Personally I feel our club should take it further . Hamilton have no excuses had all week to have it ready . To leave it that late without warning is negligent . Not only to our fans . Disappointed with killies statement I hope they will take it further . Onto Hibs
BigYin
Well that was a waste of a journey! Was really looking forward to it as well. What a shambles of a club Hamilton are. Clearly the pitch hasn’t been treated properly in the last few days to ensure the game will go ahead. They’ve obviously panicked late afternoon when they realised they were going to have a problem and tried to get it cleared
Bbk
Be interesting to see if the spfl investigate into this further its not rocket science to foresee the weather problem much earlier today and make greater efforts to get game on listening to Chick Young and Willie Miller on the radio very scathing of Hamilton. Would tend to agree they maybe manufactured all this because of our good form at present total f****rs!
bute-killiefan
Hamilton's Statement: Tonight’s game v Kilmarnock has just been postponed. Sincere Apologies to all for the late notice. The club and match officials were giving it every chance after overnight snow and freezing fog. The groundstaff have been working on it all day, snow clearing, stadium preparation, salting car parks etc. The referee first called in around 515pm and gave the groundsman more time to get it ready. However following a second inspection, and a discussion with both managers, he has called it off. The team staff felt it was playable underneath but it was simply a matter of clearing the overnight snow, and it had frozen overnight (-6.5 and freezing fog here at 7am this morning), however we have been ultimately swept away by nature and with the forecast to remain below freezing for the next few hours, it wasn’t assisting. The club are most disappointed it is off as everyone was positive for the game. A new date will be set by the SPFL in due course. Apologies to all for any inconvenience caused.

Fankle
Killie statement is a bit shorter... "Kilmarnock FC is naturally disappointed that tonight's Ladbrokes Premiership match against Hamilton Academical has been postponed due to a frozen pitch. Referee Barry Cook and his team made the decision following a 6.15pm pitch inspection We fully understand the decision as player safety is paramount. Yet you read fans comments and listen to BBC earlier and the Snow was there yesterday morning not this morning. They seem to have lost a day somewhere. Reports suggest most work was done after 1700 tonight.
