Bad company

The guys on Jambos kickback are questioning the two guys that are certain as both of them made the claim with their first post.

They're well used to spotting that kinda stuff on the Jambos site. When Gary Locke was getting a slagging  (which was fairly often) mysterious first-time posters would jump on to valiantly defend our hapless hero, soon to be called out by the masses.

I think he would improve us. Are we desperate for him I’m not sure. That’s probably dependent on Erwin pulling his weight. Boyd and Brophy are doing the business at the moment but if we are hit with injury, suspension or loss of form is the backup there. IMO we need another striker in.

Were we ever really in for him if the STV story is true?

Hearts are close to completing the loan signing of Scotland international Steven Naismith.

A deal has not yet been agreed but STV understands there is a willingness from all three parties - Hearts, Norwich City and Naismith himself - to secure a move until the end of the season.

It is also understood Hearts are the only Scottish club at this stage registering serious interest and despite clubs down south being keen, Tynecastle would be the 31-year-old's preferred destination.

Naismith has not yet travelled to Edinburgh to finalise the deal but if all goes to plan he is expected to feature in Sunday's Scottish Cup tie against Hibs.

Our "interest" was purely from an article from Naisy where he said that he wanted up the road and mentioning Kilmarnock and Rangers were possible options. The fans would always want him back and it made sense to come back here because of his locality.

But If 10k is/was the number required to get him then i'm sure we wouldn't even bother trying to get him. To be honest I wouldn't want the board to put us into debt to get a player. We've done that before and got ourselves into a mess.

If our club probably showed a real interest in him, it was until the actual financial package Norwich wanted any interested club to pay ....became clear....

For a short term loan deal it does not make sensible use of the limited budget we have even IF it was partly paid by a third party...

...if there was a chance that Norwich wanted instead to free him and player agreed to a come off that high wage contract early..  then can see the logic in getting such a player on a permanent deal

Hearts have agreed a loan deal for Scotland forward Steven Naismith and expect to complete his move from Norwich in the next 48 hours. (Daily Record)

It says it on the BBC so it must be true.

The BBC are quoting the Daily Record in this instance.

Their own story is that "Hearts are continuing talks with Norwich City with a view to taking Scotland forward Steven Naismith to Tynecastle on loan."
