A very rich infant who has never been encouraged to grow up. Perhaps it tells us a bit about the half of the US population who voted for him as president.

The fact they have agreed to halt military ops near the border until after the Olympics is huge. Actions speak louder than words -

gdevoy
Now, apparently the British peoples protests about NHS underfunding are a reason for the US government not to provide any healthcare according to The Donald..

Classic example of the FAKE NEWS Trump bleats about. If you were a right leaning republican America first voter, hard pressed in the rust belt, without an expensive college education - you won't even know what the NHS is! You think Americans are obsessed with our news in the way we are with theirs? Of course not - they know f. all - except the Royals, plus maybe Arsenal and Man United! Trump can make up all the crap he wants.

I got talking to some folk beside a pool in L.A. a few years ago and regaled them with colourful tales of the castle I stayed in and the traditional highland games we partook in. They were particularly fascinated by our haggis chasing exploits and that they had two legs shorter on one side then the other so they could walk the hills.
bute-killiefan
The Trump presidency has far reaching consequences, especially if he decided to drop a bomb in North Korea to boost his polling numbers come mid-term elections. -

You'd think we were the 51st state or something! It's cheap filler for Sky News but there is a massive amount of US news in the UK post Brexit - ever increasing. SKy and BBC are also hugely pro US and anti EU, rarely does the abject inequality of American society get mentioned in comparison to Europe. Then there's the Brexit studies showing 2-10% loss of GDP in terms of hard or soft Brexit - all of which included a trade deal with the USA - a bizarre assumption to base ALL your UK post Brexit modelling on. We're being softened up by the media basically..

There are several interesting comparisons between the US and the third world, for example the chances of being involved in a violent death and the chances of dying of some fairly easily treatable condition. If you are rich in the US you are going to be fine but if you are blue collar then your life chances will be closer to those living in the third world. Europe is far ahead in terms of social justice and I am currently afraid that the only direction on EU exit will be towards a US model. This is why I find Corbyn's lust to exit the EU astonishing. He sees the EU as to restrictive for his view of socialism but the only thing that is going to happen when we bale out is a more Thatcherite, US, low wage, low tax economy.
RAG
It's not just health care and education. Modern American inequality is 80% of the population of some American counties not having access to sewage systems, causing 34% of resident to have hookworm - thought to have been eradicated in the early 20c. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2017/sep/05/hookworm-lowndes-county-alabama-water-waste-treatment-poverty

I disagree with his suggestion that Universal Healthcare cannot work. It is failing because it is being intentionally underfunded and sold off to private companies. You know I was halfway through explaining how the ambulance drop off could be sorted in no time flat when I began to realise that you are right. It is a just a symptom of basic underfunding. Anything done to address it would just move the problem elsewhere. Despite the bile spouted by Farage about immigration, underfunding in the NHS, public services generally and in defence funding is all a consequence of "austerity". which is the methodology the people voted for in 2010 to deal with the f**k up in the banking system in 2007. We could have chosen to make the dickhead coke sniffers of the square mile clean up their own mess but for some reason I don't understand we voted to unload the s**t onto those least able to pay. And by the way, if you think austerity is unpleasant for the folks at the bottom of the s**t pile just wait till we get into the low wage low tax, US style economy that Brexit will bring.
