skygod
Youssouf Mulumbu is reportedly suing an agent after he allegedly 'stole €1million' from the former Celtic man. L'Equipe reports the ex- Kilmarnock midfielder and former Congo team-mate Distel Zola have both filed a suit against the intermediary in France. The pair believe they have been scammed by the man in question, who is also Congolese, during their time in France. The former Norwich man came through the PSG ranks and played for the Ligue 1 side from 2004 to 2009, while Zola spent seven years at Monaco. Mulumbu went on record with the French newspaper to speak about the case. He said: "From 2009 to 2017, I wanted to trust so-called competent people ... who simply cheated and stole from me up to €1million. "My mistake was not to trust someone qualified. I realised that when I returned to Paris. I wanted to see what I had saved, then I saw that I had nothing. "I blame myself, I was naive. I shouldn't have been so trusting, but I'm not the only one. That's why I'm speaking out, so that the younger generations are wary and don't fall into the same trap." Mulumbu then tweeted about the ongoing incident: "The fact that Congolese would rob a Congolese brother saddens me all the more because our community enjoys a pretty bad reputation. "This will reinforce stereotypes and foment the mistrust of the players towards these advisers, agents or managers" The 32-year-old left the French capital for West Brom, before arriving in Scotland with Killie in 2017. He was a standout performer for the Ayrshire club before joining the Parkhead outfit last summer. Mulumbu made three appearances for Celtic, before being loaned back to the Rugby Park side in January. He was eventually released by the champions in the summer and is still on the lookout for a new club. https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/former-celtic-midfielder-youssouf-mulumbu-20651097 -
Bigdodge
He needs cash. We need someone to open teams up. Get him in. No brainer.
scooosh77
Does anyone actually know if he’s been approached by AA at all? You’d think he would have!
fraz65
It's astonishing the number of footballers who end up in financial difficulties despite earning easily enough to set themselves up for life. Do clubs not offer advice to young players?

Rumour was that he was looking for 8k a week. Which is well outside our levels and realistically only the sheep, and the edinburgh two could reach that level.

historyman
Surely we could afford 4K per week till the end of the season - sign him now, get him fit and pay him for playing from January to the end of the season. -

kilm53
If he's skint as he says then surely the amount of wages offered would be on us..take it for the season or don't..I reckon he'd take it..
NorfolkG
I doubt he’s skint. Not saying just under a million euros isn’t a lot to lose but he will have made a lot more than than in his career. In fairness, on re-reading, he says he had nothing. What the hell did he spend the rest on?? Edited October 19, 2019 by NorfolkG

charlie1
Theres skint and skint . Skint to me is struggling to make ends meet , having nothing or very little left day to day , He isnt skint , maybe cant afford the lifestyle he had but far from skint. Thanks for the memories Youssouf but stop bleating ,there is i would think a job here at Killie for you should you want it offering a livable if not decent salary that anyone skint would jump at.
jesper
Absolutely love Mulumbu, but am I the only one thinking we don't really need him? He would be a great name to add, but the cost/benefit doesn't add up for me. Our midfield is strong, and has cover - El Makrini has come onto a game and Power/Dicker are the formidable duo they have been for 2+ seasons now. If we were to spend £4k+ per week (if we could ever even afford that) I'd spend it on a striker, a good one. It's not like we're not creating chances, we just need a clinical striker to put them away.

If we are talking about making someone a top earner, I wouldn’t even go for a striker, I’d go for a creative midfielder. Mulumbu would be a big player for us but arguably not in a position that’s priority.

Mulumbu’s passing at times would cut open defences.

He’s just pursuing a legal claim against his former agent and has gone to the press - L’Equipe, respected sports paper, hardly a tabloid - to help warn young players. He’s not bleating.
