Ronaldo

Good move for him.  He could easily play at the top level in Italy for another 5 years.  Juve won't lose money even at 100 million. Still the best player in the world IMO at present - no one else is as good on the deck and in the air as Ronaldo.

Madness has 2 years at the top level left in him

@killie1961 It's Italy though.  Is a lot slower football than Spain or England.  Totti played till he was 40 for example.  World Class players can turn out in their late 30s in Serie A no bother.

Thought this myself. He’ll possibly be able to go a bit easier in Italy and then give it his all in the champions league. He’s been easing off certain aspects of his game for Madrid for the last year with the help of Zidane. Picking and choosing his games. Moving to a strikers role where less running is expected of him etc.

Its a great signing for Juve. He’ll add something to their attack and he’ll attract a great deal of publicity. Shirt sales will see the recoup a chunk of their initial outlay as well

Could that neymar be heading to Real now Ronaldo is leaving?

You've seen that in last couple of years where he plays within the lines of the penalty box effectively.  With his heading and bicycle kick ability, he'll be a massive hit in Italy.  Will be interesting to see if he hits as many goals as in England or Spain.  None of the other candidates for best player in the world ever did it in Italy, Spain and England.

That's been the rumour for a year, PSG was a staging post cos he couldn't travel Barca to Madrid direct.

Neymar has been the rumour for a while. One doing the rounds in the last month or so is PSG can't complete the Mbappe deal sue to financial fair play and Madrid could step in there. Zidane was a long term admirer of Eden Hazard but obviously he’s gone now. Lopetegui ex Spain manager might fancy going with the likes of Vasquez and Asensio with Bale perhaps ready to take a more prominent role. There’s also speculation they may go for more of a goal scoring striker than Benzema. Ronaldo didn’t like a No9 as they occupied the space he liked to move into. A return for Morata or moves for Lewandowski or Icardi also being touted.

I can see them going after Hazard and Lewandowski

They'll be after Harry Maguire too.  Ramos is getting on a bit.  Compared to the silly money you'd pay for attackers that have been outstanding at the WC, Maguire would be good value, but EPL teams have enough money to not sell the World's Best players.  I don't see many centre halves better than him in this tournament!   Any CH nicknamed "Slabhead" has got to be good..

Tremendous signing for Juve. No brainer. Ronaldo even at 33 is still world class. Juve will have 3 or 4 years of him at a good level. His wages and transfer fee will more than be paid for by the upturn in sponsorship, shirt sales etc. Juve's shares are already up by some crazy amount. Also it will mean that they can match the real, Man U's of the World by increased interest for Asia etc.

Most players who have played in the Premier league and Serie A say that Serie A is a tougher league.

Just watched a video from Guillem Balague who does La Liga for Sky. Quite interesting stuff. Seems to have been a lot of back and forth between the player and Madrid. Neither come out of it to well. He’s always been viewed as a bit of a mercenary there. Threatening to leave but happy when a new contract is put on the table. His tax case is costing him a few bob and he wanted Madrid to foot the bill and they verbally agreed. He also wanted to be earning closer to what Messi is on €45million plus a season. Madrid backed out and said if they get £100million he can go. By all accounts his agent has been pimping him out every summer for the last few years but no one has ever accepted the invitation until Juve this year.

A great player he is but he comes across as a moaning and divisive prick. I wonder what effect that will have on the Juve dressing room. A tight knit group who haven’t had that ego amongst them before.

If Pirlo was still there I doubt he would have much time for Ronaldo. Pirlo is what being a footballer should be all about, his autobiography is a great read.

Pirlo was magnificent.  His game against England was something else,  more passes than their whole team put together. And THAT penalty!

Going by the papers and online gossip this move could start the ball rolling on one of the busiest transfer windows in a long time. About half the Juve team linked with moves away to accommodate financial fair play. Real linked with about 10 replacements. Chelsea, Liverpool, Bayern among others linked to players to replace whoever Madrid sign. Looks like the agents will have a good summer again

Prick of a player on the park despite great talent, loves himself more than life itself, yet a great philanthropist and believer in doing right by youngsters. A contradiction in many ways.  Sure he’ll do fine at Juve. Great strip this season btw, but won’t be spoiling it for my kids (me) by getting his name on it.

Hazard a great replacement at Real but they’ve a lot of rebuilding to do to an aging squad.
