bute-killiefan
VERY surprised that not only has he signed for another club, but that the club is Partick. He could have done a job for us Edited August 21, 2018 by bute-killiefan -

Nobody
Think this is just down to us not wanting to get sucked into a financial minefield. Hope so anyway.

Darryl1869
Only a one year deal, get him playing again, Thistle stay down, we re-sign him next season.

Pompey Repatriated
If it all goes smoothly and he does well we can get him on a pre-contract in January

Exactly..... my mate John Garroch, assistant at Hurlford said he looked a shadow of the player who played for us, when training with them.
stewarty66
Is it possible the Weirs paid some of the money owed? Possibly Thistle have negotiated a fee with Al Ahly that's acceptable to both clubs?
bute-killiefan
My Al Ahly supporting pal is telling me there is conflicted reports in Egypt coming out about it. One saying the move is fine by them as it allows him to start paying off the money he owes, others saying they had no idea the move was in the works, that they have not 'sanctioned' it and will be escalating it shortly. Get the popcorn out It will take him a long, long, long time to pay off what he owes on the wages he will be getting from Thistle.

Bullitt
I wish him well, but I’m very very sceptical that he will feature for thistle at all. Aberdeen, St Mirren, Hibs (earlier in window) and Hearts were/are all crying out for a striker and there is a guy with his record sitting on a free transfer and not one make any move for him!? Perhaps thistle have bitten off more than they can chew here.
Trojan76
He's not kicked a ball in a year and half, that's a very long time to be out of professional football. Big gamble signing him, and there is still a lot of baggage to be sorted.
WWWWnnnnnn!
Fair amount of sour grapes here. He was a risk for us having not played too. Dropping down a league too, he'll score goals.
Trojan76
No sour grapes, wish him all the best, really do, but i can't see it working out and can totally understand if the Egyption mob are as awkward as sin. Imagine how we would feel if we bought a player for that kind of money then he walked out on uo 2 months later and we got nothing back? As for not having played much before coming to us, maybe not first time, but regular in reserve games down south, he literally has not played any competitve games for a year and half, that's a hell of a long time to be out the game
Night hawk
He looks in good shape physically but he will need a good few games before hitting the form that earned us nearly a million quid! That being said the championship is a poor league, he will score goals in it without a doubt.
piffer
Hopefully it goes well for the boy and he can get his career back on track. Like others I have my doubts everything will go smoothly from here.
