If this happens, which has looked very likely for some time and we have no option to recall Calum waters from st mirren then serious questions must be asked of the club. This is basic stuff.

Lets be honest, even if we get 2 or 3 mil cash, it’s going to be difficult to source a replacement at this stage of the window.

To be fair, if the Ham is up to it it shouldn't be too difficult to get a backup.

Would have liked to see Waters given a chance. I wonder if Celtic had told us nothing was happening and have now panicked over the quality of their signings?

. None the less if Taylor does go and we get a tidy sum, good luck to the lad, deserves the move.

I hope one day we are in a position to keep hold of our best players and not have to sell.

Agreed.

Greg has been great for us and vice versa.

I just hope he realises this and doesn't turn into a moon howling Green Brigade fan boy.

Rendition of one greg Taylor today whether he's playing or not. Lad has been fantastic and has handled this situation publicly superb.

Goes with my best wishes and sure his career will continue to flourish,a

One Greg Taylor!!

If he nets us £3 million then the club are secure financially for the next 5-10 years.

He's been a great servant who would leave with our best wishes.

If he does want to go he must understand we can't just let him go on the cheap. Celtic also need to play fair here and if they are charging 25 million for Tierney then 3 million for Taylor is a at least what he is worth.

If Taylor kicks up and doesn't want to play(and of all the players who would do this I doubt it would be Greg) then we just sit him on the bench rather than accept a 1 million or a 2 million. Other bids will come from other teams. He is still contracted to us for a while.

He’s more than half the player Tierney is.  He’s the next Tierney so to speak.  I think, as usual, we’re drastically undervaluing our players.  The lad has been the most consistent performer in our league for the past 3 seasons and has never shown any sign of being injury prone.  He’s an international in a team where his main competitors for the position are Robertson and Tierney.  One of the main comments used to describe him is ‘he never gets done’.   If we don’t get at least £5-10 million for the lad and a fairly healthy sell on then we’ve been shafted.

£5m - £10m is crazy talk. There is not a chance a team is going to pay that kind of money for a left back from Kilmarnock and that’s just a fact.

When players such as Taylor agree to extending their current contract it does two things. One it provides a player with a guaranteed income and secondly it protects the club from bidders who come in for the player. The club knew Taylor was a commodity and he thankfully extended his contract. Now there is a chance of him leaving, the club will be able to cash in and insert a compensation clause for future transfers. Taylor should have everyone’s best wishes.

Contrast Taylor, with O’Donnell who so far has exerted his right not to extend his contract, who will be free to negotiate a decent signing on fee for any new club, and Killie will receive nothing.

Trouble is, value isn't based on how much a player is worth, it's based on what someone is willing to pay.

I don't disagree that he should be a fifth of whatever Tierney was - but no one will offer us that so it's not remotely useful.

We couldn't afford to turn down 3 million. He could get a career ending injury next week and we'd get nothing. And there's no indication Championship clubs are going to match that or pay any more.

It's no fair, but the reality is that 3 million would be a deal we couldn't turn down.

And O’Donnell would be no less due our best wishes.

He signed up to giving us three years’ service, which he is well on the way to completing.

No more or less.

In that time, he has been capped and his stock has risen. Not enough, apparently, for another club to make an acceptable offer to buy out his contract but that is no fault of the player.

Good luck to him too.

Yes good luck to the boy!  But do certain folk on here not think he's down tools. Pretending he has a tight hamstring.   mmmmmm if jones downed tools how is this different:7:

Do we know it’s true first of all. We make our judgements as things play out. If he’s feigning injury and trying to force a move that’s bitterly disappointing. The club won’t stand in his way we just want a fair price. At the moment there is no similarity to JJ. He’s not been pictured walking in the front door of Celtic Park. He’s not tweeting hail hail.
