Greg Taylor (AWAY)

Celtic ‘not prepared’ to meet Kilmarnock’s £3million price for Greg Taylor as they look elsewhere

CELTIC are actively looking at alternatives to Greg Taylor, according to reports.
The Hoops are not prepared to meet the Ayrshire side’s £3million asking price for the left-back

Killie value the Scotland international highly and are reluctant to sell their prized asset.

And according to the Daily Record, Neil Lennon's side may look to move on.

It is said that Celtic were prepared to pay £1million for Taylor plus players on loan, one believed to be centre-back Jack Hendry.

However, the Rugby Park club want substantially more so a deal now looks unlikely unless there is movement from either side

Taylor has made 121 appearances for Killie in all competitions since his debut in 2016.

The 21 year-old has been a consistent performer for the Premiership side and has established himself as a key member of their squad.

Great news -as long as we don’t blink first

The ethics of this mob is unreal. Hold out for stupid money for Tierney. Yet the Scottish media are all good for Celtic, holding out for as much as they can get. Nothing about denying Tierney a dream move to the premiership.

Yet when it comes to us, the tone is we are being unrealistic for a Scotland international, pretty much denying a player his dream move. If he does leave I hope some European team swoops in with a 3 million from under their noses.

Meling has another year and a half on his contract, and given his European experience you'd think they'd be asking for more than £3million for him. So it strikes me as Celtic leaking that to the press in the hope that poor little Kilmarnock see it and lower their asking price because we're oh so desperate for the money.

This is straight out of the Old Firm playbook and has been delivered with textbook precision by their stooges at the Record.

Standard business practise.

They are looking after there own interests as everybody should. He’s our player. We will determine at what price point we sell. As they did with tierney. It’s not emotional and they can use the media in any way they want. It’s cold hard business. My prediction from last weeks stands. A week of negotiation played out in the press ending with a club record fee and jack hendry at rugby park.

Media inventing turnarounds and possible bids being rejected etc is just another way to spin the story and get another day out of it.

Chances are Celtic have got a number of options but there’s no way that Killie and Celtic haven’t been in contact over it and the deal won’t be off until it’s concluded either way.

That sums it up very accurately.

And given they are happy to pay £3m for a left back who can’t defend you would think that Greg Taylor would be worth a bit more than that.

Doing exactly what they always do. I’d refuse to do any business with them. They are unsettling a player under contract at our club.

We ask for 3 million you offer a million and a reserve player. Get to f**k.

Lowballing offers are something we would 100percent have accepted under past regimes.

I sincerely hope our board aren’t even considering it.

From the outside looking in and the lack of rumours or movement it seems we may have thought about waiting to see if we get some cash before picking our targets.

If you had any doubt that we don't have an impartial media then this line says it all. If you're reporting on something that is happening, or about to happen, then this line has no place.

However, if you want to paint the wee diddy club as the bad guy, then go right ahead.

It also suggests that the agent is feeding the papers with all of this. Must be really frustrating for the club.

Not necessarily his agent although it wouldn't surprise me. Tbh this all just reeks of 'journalists' picking up everything from forums. The 500k bid was reported but never actually been confirmed it happened. A post on here said we were looking for £1m, now it's being used against us. The £3m price tag has been picked up from here. A few people suggested £1.5 + jack hendry and now it's apparently what Celtic were offering.

Literally just picking everything from forums. The herald reported Greg was signing for Celtic for £3m after he missed Saturday, then the very next day Celtic have moved on because they only want to pay £1m...erm ok? Absolute bulls**t laziness.

Noticed how the dressing room unrest reported in the papers has subsided since we've picked up a few results and people on here aren't wetting their knickers as much?

Motherwell did a pretty decent job with Turnbull.

Dundee somehow managed to hold out for £1.5m for Hendry too!

I'm hoping Motherwell have set a bit of a standard - that might help us.

If I remember right, Hibs tactic with Mcginn was to actively offer him to championship clubs after the Celtic bid so as to get the bidding war going.

Message to the board. Stand by your valuation.

Show that you are not like the boards of old who crumble to the old firm. We hold the cards they pay up or they are swiftly told to move on. Motherwell have shown the way. Time for us to put pressure on Celtic and set them a deadline to have the 3 million waiting. So we can plan accordingly.
