You can see these “starlink trains” quite often in the days after they launch. And they’re launching a batch about once every 5 days or so.

After launch, the 50-60 satellites spread out over a few days, they begin orbit raising meaning they mostly move out of obvious sight. They’ve also made precautions to reduce their reflectivity over the past while.

There’s satellites all over the place when you look up at night. Look directly up for a few mins then once your eye adjust you see them everywhere, especially this time of year. Little dots slowly moving across the sky. These trains are just far more obvious because there’s loads of them in a row.

Starlink seems a bit of a no brainer for that type of situation.

It’s the Musk fanboys in South California using it rather than multi-gig fibre broadband I don’t get.

Right help me out fellow geeks. Which one is this? Thinking a planet

Evening? It’s Jupiter. Saturn is also kicking about but Jupiter is much brighter.

Morning? Venus is currently in the same kind of place in the sky as Jupiter but in the morning.

Ok gang

What's the big 'corona' around the moon in this picture Girlfriend Repatriated sent?

Lunar corona. Ice crystals way up in the atmosphere refracting the light causing a rainbow like appearance. Same ice crystals that have been causing the mother of pearl clouds recently.

Here’s some pics of those clouds I got last week over my work.
