I can see both sides of the arguments and can why folk want to/don't want to wear one. Some want to remember silently, some don't want to wear one for whatever reason. I What I can't stand is (this is by and large Old Filth fans btw) are the arseholes who use it as some sort of one-upmanship show. On one hand you have Celtic who don't wear one to appease their fans then on the other you have Rangers turning it into a side show and how British they are (not nearly as bad as armed forces day which is a circus act from start to finish) I wish all club just do what we do at Rugby Park - a minutes silence, a wreathe being laid a solider playing the Last Post. I always find that a lovely tribute and true moment of reflection. Card displays, Cannons being fired, c**ts abseiling off the stands etc up the M77 takes away from what is meant to be a moment of reflection and everything to do with getting it up their manky pals in the East End. It should be the individuals choice, they should wear it as they want to, not because they are told to. if you don't want to wear it, respect those who do. It shouldn't be a hard concept. Absolutely spot on. Something that should be about private, personal reflection seems to have turned into a way for people to show off what their political views are and how good a person they are. There’s too many people on both sides of the debate who seem totally incapable of shutting the f*** up about why they do or do not wear a poppy. They take something that should be about remembering others, and make it all about themselves. As you say, it is beyond boring.

Including this thread, that was about a badge, until it was hijacked by the sob story mob with their self indulgent pity parties. Wear a poppy or don't, no justification required!

If you don’t think the poppy is a political symbol I suggest having a go at growing a brain, fella. Are these commissioned by the club? It would seem to me they’re generic pins with fitba team badges added on to them to somewhat cynically aim for some easy target audience, the excellent “desperate to show respect middle-aged male”. Find it pretty crass tbh.

Who’s ‘desperate’ to show respect? You either wear one as a mark or respect or you pay your respects without one, or you don’t pay your respect at all due to some strongly-held and misguided anti-political statement or other. -

Not a thing wrong with that, but why can’t you just wear it with pride instead of feeling the need to constantly tell everyone that you’re wearing it with pride.

Stefanus
Starts earlier every year; over commercialised with some gaudy and tacky adornments; a sense of almost enforced mass participation with people ( and organisations) trying to outdo each other; and is now so far removed from its original intent. Sound familiar?
Gaz of the 20/20
Rangers use it as a display to show how British they are. Watching Sportscene there and it appears they actually had an army tank at Ibrox today, firing fake shots, to remember people who died in service. Very unusual but typical point-scoring behaviour.

The Way Rangers have hijacked rememberance really pisses me off. It’s all about getting one up on the Celtic support. As for the Killie/Poppy badges are these authorised by the British Legion? How much goes to that fund.? Looks a bit fishy to me.

I'm also not a Celtic fan. Wear one or don't wear one, it's not exclusive to two teams and it doesn't mean not having one is being used it for political or religious point scoring. Every f**king year 'poppygate' happens and every year it causes a pointless argument. At game Saturday I didn't even notice who had and hadn't one around me.
