January transfer

Playing against an amateur team you would expect us to find holes to penetrate them as the game went on. Make no mistake, against a well drilled team we will struggle.

We need someone who can create something or pick out a pass to unlock a defence, at the moment we are very one dimensional and predictable.

Without a right good number 10 dyer needs to be spot on with tactics against opposition.

Last day of the season both goals came from Barasic being out of position and first Burke the SOD taking advantage of that. To me Clarke had identified that as a weakness and our players executed it perfectly.

It is possible to work without the creator as such, but we need to be right on the ball everywhere else.

If Saturday is telling in any way it was that we're still looking to dominate the middle of the park but attack more out wide through Bunn and Burke. As the season goes on I could see McKenzie or Kiltie playing El Makrini's advanced midfield role and El Makrini becoming a bit more rotational with Dicker/Power in behind.

The slight reshuffle has addressed the balance of the squad a bit now that we have Bunn and Kiltie as options on the left hand side of the pitch.

The ball can and should have been moved quicker. If SOD has the ball with nowhere to go , give it to somebody that can make the 30 or 40 yard pass to miss out half the pitch to switch it. Pass pass pass pass pass gets you nowhere, except passing back across where we came from. Yes we won 6 nil ( QP btw )  but forgive me did these come from set plays or carving them open ???? It was a small part of the entire match but most folk about me or speaking to later all agreed we needed to move or switch the ball quicker. A creative ball playing footballer has been the standout missing option since the summer and there doesn't appear to be anyone on the staff that has noticed this ( unless the pull a shock out in the next 10 days )

Agreed.

We are woefully slow and cumbersome going forward.

Last year the one thing Jones was good at was at least getting us up the park.

His end product was questionable at best we got a corner.

I really thought Liam Millar would fulfil that role but he was very disappointing.

Without that speed out wide and a lack of a creative no 10 type we look like we are trying to play a style that was fashionable years ago.

Contrast that with the way a lot of teams play today, Man City and Leeds are good examples of a high press but break quickly from their own box with speed.

Our goal at Perth this season proved we could do it( about the only bright spot from Millar) but too often we have the opportunity to break like that but 10 passes later we are barely at the halfway line.

It's turgid and frustrating to watch at times.

You think?

Or maybe everyone is well aware of the fact that we need a creative type but you can't pick them up that easily when its mid season, they are in big demand and short supply, you don't have infinite funds to throw about, you have a synthetic pitch etc. etc. etc.

Hey Dyer away and sign a player like Pirlo and we're sorted, dead easy!!!

To be fair, he won us a lot of free kicks in dangerous positions too.

Penalties too, some of them legitimate!
