CBFC
If the members of Queens Park vote to go Professional tomorrow then does that make us the oldest club in the league? Thoughts? -

skygod
I don't think it would change our status at all. We would still be the oldest professional club in the country. QP will always be the oldest club in the league, while they are in existence.

We are currently the oldest club that subsequently turned professional. QPFC will assume that mantle if they go pro. Other clubs in Scotland have been professional for longer than Kilmarnock.

skygod
The club turned semi-professional in 1894. If other clubs have been continuously professional for longer that makes the title of the oldest professional club a bit disingenuous. Better to stick with the second oldest club.

Always thought it was just a convenient way of creating a club record by omitting Queen's Park. Doesn't look like a card we'll be able to play for much longer though.
DG5
The threat of relegation to the Lowland League has put pressure on them and the others in that league.

In the long run that can only improve standards by cutting out the deadwood traditional or not.

But we won't be the oldest professional club any more.
