It’s electioneering and opportunism with this being an election year (FFS after the GE!) and the impeachment trial. Spot of action in middle East detracts attention from that. Although this is how big wars start, given ongoing situation in Iraq/Syria/ISIS/Afghanistan and the region over 20 years. Will be interesting to see what European countries say about it.
Fudger
Really hoping this is the start of us keeping the f**k out of American wars in the middle east. It has nothing to do with us and any involvement we could have would be superficial to the power the Americans hold. Iran a completely different animal to Iraq. Far more dangerous and powerful.

On Thursday, Trump ordered the assassination of Qassem Soleimani, a top Iranian commander and one of the most powerful men in the Middle East. The assassination comes with Trump’s approval rating mired at 42%, and facing removal from office through impeachment as the US enters election year. Tweets from back in 2011 and 2012 in which Donald Trump predicted that President Barack Obama would start a war with Iran to secure his reelection have gone viral, after the US assassinated a top Iranian general, dramatically escalating its confrontation with Iran.

Israeli PM in similar corruption scandal situation as Trump being another side issue. It happened in Iraq which as we all know is bandit country, but if folk are criminals, they should face justice, not killed by robots in sky, if we’re taking an unpolitical, moral stance as human beings.

Jedi2
Brazen attempt by Trump to divert attention from his impeachment. Pulls out the age old card of starting a war. Certainly a worry with Russia backing Iran. We know that Trump will stop at nothing to boost his own popularity. Fox News will help him ramp up a war rhetoric if need be. Would be utter madness to go anywhere near this, but then we have Johnson as PM now.

Shropshire_killie
Trump is a disgusting pig threatening to destroy cultural sites. Such volatile and provocative language should be condemned by Raab Johnson but oh no we will be right up their arses as usual. Great deal on the table soon remember.....for the,US. Also this "precision" attack presumably also killed more than one person in the two vehicles. Doesnt matter though...... Openly supportive if the white "supremicusts" in the US. The thing is, just like the Johnston moron, this is what the majority voted for. I suspect that this is down to just how unsavoury and unelectable the alternative is. Now that Johnston has pitched in his tuppence worth we have nor elevated the threat status to "morons squared".
