The Gus MacPherson must be having a rueful smile about the kerfuffle over Frimpong and his bruised leg.

Remember when Celtic and media darling Henryk Larsson did him good and proper - 12 stitches in a gash and a broken shin-guard?

But Larsson wasn’t “that kind of player” was he?

One of the many Celtic-minded blogs yesterday had the nerve to compare Frimpong’s injury with Frank Beattie’s career-ending leg-break at Celtic Park!

Now that Frimpong has been exposed as a squealing schoolgirl after a hard tackle, it will be interesting to see if other teams target him for tough but fair treatment.

And players like Scott Brown shouldn’t be entitled to give their “what-about” opinions in the media.

Clubs should keep a dignified silence on such incidents other than their manager, or whoever, giving an official reaction.

Even then, you’ve got Lennon being the arbiter on what constitutes unsavoury abuse. This the guy who has dealt out some really unsavoury abuse to referees, not least at RP.

No wonder Brown feels entitled to think he can referee matches. The SFA is truly a pathetic organisation.

I sit further back and saw him leaving with the police who  seemed to take him downstairs for five minutes before he returned alone.

Was it just to let him cool off / defuse the situation, or was it so he could make a formal complaint and ask for The Thumb to be charged for his behaviour...hope so.

Think it was to take his statement, Police were waiting for the wee rat at the tunnel at full time.

They are doing what they do best ( similar to their other cretinous half) do also and that is play any kind of card to gain sympathy and manipulate the media don't know why they indulge in such cheating behaviour on the pitch when they have so much quality in their team looks to me like wee Neil's influence has definitely been taken on board by his players win at all costs by any means possible quite sad to see  .

It's almost as if some sort of report had come out recently, that showed an increase in all sorts of 'isms'...

It’s common knowledge why this is but still the media manage to make a story out of nonsense.

Hats off to The Sun!

To fill up a column because you can still see the Europa League markings is some going.

Who gives a flying flamingo about what TV viewers might think, or whether anybody is unimpressed?

Let’s all go round to Broonie’s house and criticise the stripes on his lawn!

Honestly! Of all the things you could criticise about Scottish football and it’s about redundant pitch marking you can still see!

A lot of the TV viewers in England might support clubs which share their pitches with RU, RFL or NFL matches where the dual markings are much more noticeable.

Its an utter disgrace that Kilmarnock football club should come up with any method try and beat either of our two great fooballing dynasties in Scotland. Wee teams should just roll over and let the Big boys take the three points without a tackle. Also they should be bowing down to the greatness of their support as such wee diddy clubs need the hard earned cash of these wonderful supporters etc etc etc

The outrage that even trying to challenge the OF in this country from the media is horrific.

I would love it if we made the pitch as small as possible, never sold them any tickets, didn't water the pitch etc etc. f**k them and their self righteous s**te

It was made bigger for CQN game then brought back to the same size as last year for the start of domestic season. Yet another non-story the OF fans will lap up as it's written in the Sun

Seems both sides of the Glasgow ugly sisters find it cathartic to have a go at everything connected with Killie.

Last couple of years we have left them wounded.

Very very satisfying.

Seen a video of Power's horrific calculated assault on Frimpong ..... and thought WTF ...  is that it????

What was Scott Brown going on about ..lunge ... 2 footed .... off the ground...

It would've been if you'd make it ya feckin muppet!!

It was a thing of beauty .... perfectly timed .... controlled ....

I really honestly don't see what the fuss is about.

Brown doesn’t write this (even if was capable), he talks to a journo who then writes it down. So who isn’t there any editorial challenge to ridiculous statements like this from the writer or even the editorial staff? Of course we all know the answer - 3rd rate journos in thrall to the old firm...

Agreed. I like their comparison with Frank Beattie’s broken leg as that wasn’t a foul either, so they are admitting Power’s was a fair tackle!!

The club should make a complaint.

"Neil Lennon has confirmed that Jeremie Frimpong is out of tomorrow's Ross County clash after he was injured at Kilmarnock.

The right-back was scythed down by Killie's Alan Power in the second half of Celtic's 3-1 win at Rugby Park on Wednesday evening."

It’s just deflection.

Three limp performances in a row and increasing possibility they will f**k up their oft-trotted consecutive titles aim.

This is some of the most transparent siege mentality-building I’ve ever seen.

The comparison was more between Killie supporters jeering Frimpong and "respectful" Celtic supporters applauding Beattie off.

Because sporting etiquette everywhere obviously hasn't changed at all in the past 50 years, no sir!

"A serious black mark to the Kilmarnock supporters who jeered Jeremie Frimpong as he lay injured with what might have been a serious problem.

From what I understand, it may not be as bad as was feared, but nevertheless those Killie supporters should be ashamed of themselves. For all they knew, it might have been a broken leg – and I certainly feared that – and I’m afraid such crass behaviour is sheer ignorance and a disgrace to their club.

And my mind went back to a day at Celtic Park in December 1969 when the great Kilmarnock player Frank Beattie was stretchered off with a broken leg. Jock Stein took off his overcoat and placed it on the injured player, and clapped Frank as he was carried up the tunnel. The respectful Celtic crowd joined in. Now, that was real class!"

It was very evident, almost immediately, that he was absolutely fine.

No doubt he took a whack from a very firm, fair challenge but their backroom staff’s eking our of over five minutes was laughably obvious.

Don’t condone the jeering though - it can very easily be used the way it has been.

I think we need to move away from sweating what the fans of this club think. When they aren’t smashing stands, they are singing sectarian songs. When they aren’t preaching about their charitable, more-than-a-club roots, they are taking as much cider and bookie money as they possibly can.

Absolute horses**te from popcorn teeth, absolutely stunningly good challenge, ball taken cleanly,   its was the slide that put frimpojg down, and if he know how to handle a tackle he wouldn't have a single bruise.

Club should take celtic, Lennon, brown and the papers to task over this, it is in effect bringing the game into disrepute and trying to influence referees unfairly in future.
