Is it actually that hard

How hard is it to negotiate a transfer window. We on here are no experts but there seems to be a number of things mentioned on here and by people at other clubs in interviews, articles or social media.

Planning has to start before the window. In fact it should probably never stop. Head of football and coaching staff in constant discussion. Identify area for improvement. Identify a number of targets for said areas(Peterborough chairman says they usually have three while the Sevilla  DoF says they can have up to twenty potential recruits for each position in the team at any one time). Compile dossier on each target and watch them regularly. When the window opens or earlier go and get your target starting at first choice and working your way down. Get them in early to utilise the extra training time in the break either summer or January. The earlier you solve some problems mean you can focus on any others that arise. Maybe keep a wee something back for any surprises that come available at the end of the window.

From the looks of it the club have done none of this throughout this window. And probably neglected plenty of other stuff as well. Heads should roll IMO after this from the very top down.

From our so called fans rep

From them all. Either collectively or individually. They’ve all gone silent of late. Happy to milk it in the good times but nowhere to be seen in the dark days. Either put a statement out now to let us know what’s gone on, face the fans at an open meeting or announce the AGM and let people have their say.

We seem to have managed it for the other 149 years

Surely one of the fans reps jobs is to let the board know what the fans are actually feeling. I have tried to give her a chance but when she was a politician she towed the party line. Was a yes woman no matter how bad her party was. She just seems to have transferred that to our our totally useless board.

No c**t ever utter the words “we do our business at the end of the window” again, it worked once with Clarkes connections, it’s not some magic formula only we know about.

Bang on. And because it worked for one guy it’s now thought to be the Killie way. A joke to leave everything until the last minute and you end up getting burned like today

Even look at the last few January windows, compared to this shambles...

2016-17 (with Lee Clark!)

In

Freddie Woodman

Kris Ayer

Sean Longstaff

Callum Roberts

Connor Sammon!

2017-18

Tshibola

Mulumbu

Aaron Simpson

(okay) Leo Fasan

2018-19

McAleny

Mulumbu (again)

Liam Millar

Alex Bruce

All players who arguably strengthened the squad at that time,(even Simpson and Fasan at least provided cover, the quality of Woodman, Ayer, and Longstaff speaks for itself) and then this year a couple of journeymen and Broadfoot.

So, the idea that January isn't a time when much can be done to change things.....

I think the galling thing is we knew we were weak after August. The 7 straight  defeats showed we needed urgent strengthening and if we don't our premiership status is at risk. All the other teams have recruited well yet we make a total cluster out of it. Gross incompetence! We should be in a position to attract players and compete with the Motherwells etc. You don't even need a great scouting network. Livy sign Dykes, Lawless, Bartley and now Forrest who are well knoen and have been great for them. I am so gutted by the whole thing. Dyer needs a result tomorrow or we are really in trouble

We were told from August that plans were in place for January and that we’d be looking at the free market until then. We came up with Simeon Jackson. I don’t know how long we’ve been tracking Bunn but the Kabamba and Broadfoot moves were certainly quick turnovers.

We should have had deals in place for January 1st change of manager or not. At the moment we are behind the rest of the league in recruitment. A poor window, not many current players signed for next season and no pre contracts in place either.

Only sensible post on the thread, the rest just show why you can't have any numpty join a football club board. You know she's not a fans representative for starters right? Clearly not. She's on the board to input from the Trust, if you're not in the trust or paying into TIK then I suggest you take your grievances up with the SLO or Fowler or Bowie. You don't want a politician on board but it would be okay to have a postman or a brickie, aye we're a clever lot right enough.
