Popular Post CB
Kilmarnock defender Dario Del Fabro has paid tribute to his mentor Rino Gattuso for preparing him for the rough and tumble of Scottish football. The 24-year-old Italian is making the most of his time at Rugby Park during his one-year loan from Serie A champions Juventus. And Del Fabro reckons former Rangers star Gattuso's message about playing against the Ibrox side and Celtic has reaped rewards. The pair worked together at Pisa and Del Fabro insists he has the bug for Scottish football after former Rugby Park boss Angelo Alessio brought him to Ayrshire last summer. Del Fabro, speaking to Gianluca Di Marzio, said: "I've played at both Ibrox and Celtic Park and the first one impacted me in a special way. "In recent years I've been used to Serie B stadiums and suddenly I found myself in the middle myself of the pitch with 60,000 fans screaming. "I can say that the Rangers fans are very passionate, but then Gattuso already told me that..." And the defender has detailed Gattuso's dedication to his development and how a shock phone call set him up for the season ahead. He added: "He helped me to grow a lot at Pisa, with him I made a leap in quality. "He called me when I was in Ibiza with my friends and I thought it was a joke. "I couldn't believe it. I maintained a good relationship with him even after that. We talked when I came here to Scotland because he played for Rangers. "He told me not to give up and that his experience in Scotland was crucial for him. We even won against Rangers last week, another huge satisfaction. And to do it against Gerrard, well..." Del Fabro admits his bond with the Rugby Park faithful has only strengthened since his last gasp equaliser against Hibs in November. He said: "I'll always remember the celebration, in front of the stand... actually, in the stand! "The away section was practically on the pitch, as is always the case here, so I celebrated among them. Unforgettable. "The song for me (he's magic you know/you'll never get past Del Fabro) started there, every time they sing it I smile. It's emotional." steve101
Cant question the guy's passion so far. Seems also to have a great partnership with Findlay. Would like to keep him beyond this season.

He is out of contract so imo we should be looking at a deal for him, depending on his wage situation.
BR1869
Cult hero potential. I really like the big man and looks like he could become a very decent player.
NorfolkG
Freddy-ish. Get him signed if possible. I’d say it’s a realistic possibility. He’s a decent SPL defender at this stage but could develop further. Still nowhere near peak CB years.

Agreed. 24 is a very good age to be trying to get someone like DDF on board permanently.

He is the absolute lifeblood of this club, both on and off the pitch and imo should be captain. DDF would be an absolutely brilliant acquisition but getting SF a new contract should be priority number 1. The prospect of two young centre halves developing a strong partnership in the longer term though is very appealing.
livvy
I think AD didn't fancy him initially. He seemed to favour others ahead of him at first. He's worked his way back into the team by saying and doing the right thing across the board. Sends a signal that he really wants to be here. Would be great for us if we could get him on a precontract.

Easy mistake to make tbh, if you just look at the first part of his profile on transfermarkt it notes that his contract expires this season.
killiefan27
It's definitely 2022. It's on the website. Juventus have to announce all these things because they're listed on the Italian stock exchange so it's on their website from when they signed him, he cost €4.5m. So on a five-year contract that's amortisation of €900,000 per season. Two years on his contract in the summer so we'd have to find €1.8m, which won't happen. Best hope is another loan. Scooby_Doo
Didn't he mention in his interview that he can't stay past the summer because of his uni course?
