You can't test enough people to make it compelling to push for reopening right now, but that's what he wants so they're pushing testing aside! How else do we get to a place where reopening isn't reckless in this mainly service economy they've created? Wrangodog
Johnston has f**ked the contract. NS can't stop people from doing the same as they are doing in England. It's OK to play golf in England from Wednesday but not here ? Simply saying "stay indoors" won't work any more because Johnston has destroyed any unity in a bid for popularity.

But he was told to do one and had to backtrack. His garbled nonsense yesterday or whenever he recorded it was a result of being told to get tae. It must be abundantly clear to everyone that the central administration of this island has broken beyond any repair, and that the message "whays good for the SE and the Economy is good for you lot too" simply doesnt wash anymore.

If the infection rate spikes up in a couple of weeks time, BoJo will have to row back furiously. If the current trend in infections continues, Wee Nicola will have to back down. More likely the results will be inconclusive with it spiking up if you calculate it one way and not if you use an alternative method. Then they can both claim victory. Interestingly BoJo seems to be moving towards a Trumpian, "damn the torpedos" type approach. I am wondering if this reflects the future UK government approach in post Brexit Britain. i.e. to align the UK with the US politically more than Europe. Because if so those on lower incomes are really going to take a kicking like Thatcher could only have dreamed off. And Maclean's vision of a left of centre socialist democracy in the UK can be consigned permanently to the realms of nostalgia. As Beaker says, anybody for independence.

bute-killiefan
This is nothing more than Boris shifting blame for the next wave of infections. When this spikes, he will blame the public, causing further division in the country

Robert Falcon Scott led a British expedition to be the first explorers ever to reach the South Pole. He was beaten to the pole by Norwegian Roald Amundsen and his entire expedition died on the way home. So he has been proclaimed a national hero.

One of his back-benchers arse-licking. Means nothing. He also expressed huge admiration for Pinochet, and has links to Tommy Robinson. Voters in East London and Essex must be a right bunch; many of the most obnoxious Tory MPs have their seats there - Patel, Cleverly, Jenkin, Francois, Duncan Smith and this character, Rosindell.
