  1. Stability in football management is a relative concept...
  2. Whilst test results for Covid-19 are relatively quick in a hospital environment, they are much slower outwith the hospital. Current information is that regional and mobile test sites the aim is to have results returned within 48 hours although this is not always achieved. The home test kits can take up to 72 hours. Therefore, we must keep in mind that the test only tests positive or negative at the time of the test. It is possible to have a negative result but prove positive before the next test. This has happened and no doubt, will continue to happen until the testing system improves. A resumption of football, even behind closed doors with all the precautions, is a ticking bomb as you simply cannot test on the day of a game and know if someone is positive or negative. As rm0199 has indicated, to pursue a resumption of professional football in any capacity with current state of testing is 'playing with people's lives'. I would further add that football clubs as employers, have a legal duty of care toward their employees. If the health and wellbeing of their employees is of paramount importance, then there is a moral and legal obligation to ensure that their employees are not put in a situation where a known risk exists. We all want to see football resume as soon a s possible but it must only be resumed when it is safe for the players and staff to do so.
  3. After the latest press update by NS, she indicated possible ways forward in lifting the lock down. Interestingly, she made reference to employers continuing to make provision for social distancing in the workplace. It was also mooted that schools may need to reorganise classrooms to accommodate this suggesting kids could attend at different times. I fail to see how football can resume even behind closed doors when the Scottish government has indicated some of the possible strategies being considered.
  4. This is the SFA/SFPL we are talking about. Learning from past mistakes is not on their agenda.
  5. When posts are under investigation, we hide them. Helps prevent dog-piling, and more people getting their posting privileges revoked. Disability Hate Crime is covered under the Criminal Justice Act,2003. For the purpose of the act, this would include verbal and online abuse abuse directly related to the disability and as such should be reported. It is not banter. This places the Mods in a difficult position as it is not enough just to delete inappropriate posts, but to also report them to the relevant authorities. To keep the offending posts visible puts the Mods and the web site at risk of possible legal sanctions. I have a lot of empathy for the original poster as a I have met him on several occasions and he is to be admired. My daughter is also registered blind and is now in her 40's. and has also had to endure the same kind of crap that comes from the ignorant minority. Alas, the hurt, anger and frustration they cause to the victims can never be underestimated.
  6. My hearing not the best. I though Gavin mentioned that the shirts are £50 each. Sounded like they would be available from 4th February with more retro shirts to come. He also mentioned the Killie website but haven't had a look yet.
  7. I have had enough of Killie TV. The audio is ridiculous and utterly useless. I have contacted Killie TV support several times over the last 3 months about the issues and whilst they try their best, it simply isn't good enough. I have cancelled my subscription and will not consider resubscribing until Killie TV can provide a reliable service.
  8. Have to agree that the commentary was very poor. The pregnant pauses, then a summation of what had happened. This type of commentary may be more suited to TVs stream, certainly not audio only. Bring back Gavin.
  9. Does anyone who is going to iPox tomorrow by any chance have a spare adult ticket? My son is now able to go but travelling from Edinburgh by train to Killie then to Glasgow a non starter. According to the club there will not be any tickets on sale in Glasgow.
  10. I would also add that the steps leading to the hospitality box itself can be a little dodgy for those not sure of foot. I needed my son to steady me when nogotiating them. It is also worth noting that there are 2 or 3 steps leading down to the seating area.
  11. It wasn't that long when the debate was about 'sporting integrity' and how Scottish football was facing Armageddon because one club was liquidated and the rule book was rewritten to accommodate the reincarnation of a club that is rotten to the core. However, I agree with the idea of Armageddon when you consider the original meaning in Hebrew - the cleansing of all things that are corrupted and to be replaced by a system with moral integrity. The various football governing bodies in Scottish football have proven themselves so corrupt for decades that they need to be removed and replaced by an organisation that represents the interests of all clubs, otherwise the game will die because they cannot see past their own obsession with self interest.
  12. Maybe his video compilation is a Pious Bird of Good Omen...
  13. Sutherland should read the statement before stating that his comment would be hard to justify as SSC clearly states that it his 'perception' and that of 'many others'. The key word Sutherland in there is peceception - it's how it looks when you are not part of the process. For me, that is an observation that he has every right to make.
  14. In many respects it isn't the database that is the major issue. Trying to make contact with the club can be extremely frustrating by phone. Too often getting through to purchase a ticket meets with the phone not being answered when being put through. Name and phone number is taken as a courtesy and assured that you will be called back - I have yet to meet with that particular experience. If you do get through then you have two choices, have tickets posted to you at additional cost or pick them up at the ground. It is also worth noting that many who are faced with these choices do not live in Kilmarnock and thus face the additional hassle of getting tickets at the ground by leaving much earlier. As has been pointed by yourself and others, the club really need to make it easier for fans to get tickets.
  15. Over the years I have attended various 'feminist' conferences and this thread reminds me of a few where speakers from a variety of western cultures would speak eloquently about the 'abuse of women in Islam' particularly in the middle east. It was shameful that women were forced to wear particular types of clothing, have their education restricted and be forced into arranged marriages. It was therefore, rather enlightening to hear many Islamic women refute and reject angrily the western perceptions of a culture they knew nothing about! Clothing is both a religious and cultural choice. Those groups who do attempt to impose it are in direct contradiction of the teachings of the Qur'an. The same is true for education and arranged marriages. I recall a number of speakers demanding to know by what right the feminist groups from the west had to dictate what Islamic women wanted. They would then point out that their primary concern was health care specific to women not what they wore, especially when it was their choice. Perhaps it would be helpful for politicians and many others to reflect on the words of Daphne Hampson (former Feminist Theologian at St Andrews University) who once said: "When we as women demand the right to be respected for who we are as humans rather than by gender or religion, then it is beholden on us to afford the same respect and courtesy to others even if we ourselves may not agree with them."
  16. I work in Armadale and will give the wife a wave as I drive past the house (insert smiley face!)
  17. I think Edinburgh City are ground sharing with Spartans at Ainslie Park. Should we get either away, the Chicken Curry pies are a must.
  18. Thank you. Thought that might be the case. Spent over an hour trying to get info from club to find out but only get the message "your correspondent is busy". Trip to Killie first it is then.
  19. Will there be a cash gate? Only found out at last minute we can get to game but means we will have to travel from Edinburgh to Killie to get tickets.
  20. Have to say the game was good entertainment. Indiscipline cost Motherwell dearly. Both red cards were second yellows and appeared to be for comments made to ref. Craigen compounded this as he was sent to the stand as he appeared to be determined to have the last word. Our boys need to be congratulated after the final whistle as a Motherwell appeared to want a few 'afters'. Craigen just could not resist having another go at the ref as they headed up the tunnel. As I said good entertainment and all for free.
  21. That grass pitch at Parkhead must have been a 'leveller' when we came away with a draw...
  22. Many thanks for this CB. Great watch for those of us who weren't there although I did get a blow by blow account when my son got back home buzzin from the game. For your time and effort my grateful thanks.
  23. Or perhaps something to do with the men and boys who came out of the coal mines after a long shift. A colloquial saying to describe ingrained coal dust rather than anything racist. Alas, we live in times where the evolution of language has changed to such an extent that original meanings have become obscure. I am f a generation where the word gay simply meant being happy with no other connotations or meanings. and...Trojan76 got in before me.
  24. I'm afraid I cannot remember the source but recall an interesting quote that comes to mind after reading this thread. "What purpose does tolerance serve toward others if you are convinced that you are right whilst those who disagree with you are wrong? That isn't tolerance but condescension." Just for the record, I would take the view that stats are a useful factual tool. However, I am always wary of their interpretation.
