  1. Past hour
  2. Billy Gilmour, one of our best players, raved about the performance schools in his documentary. In the latest Under 19s squad 9 of them have came through that system. 7 in the latest Under 21s. We need to stick with it for a sustained period and not just try something for a few years and rip it up when it's not had immediate success.
  3. Yes, though they still like it to be kept quiet sadly.
  4. I'm not sure the performance school is a failure - plenty good players coming through from them. Nowhere near the levels of Brown era. Last squad - 4 players over the age of 30. Starting 11 had 2 player over 30 (Robertson who has just turned 30) and Cooper (who isn't a regular starter at 32) In our staring 11 the ages were. 28 30 28 32 26 22 29 22 28 29 27 Plenty of those players have at least 1 or 2 campaigns (even more for Gilmour etc) left in them after this year.
  5. Septic got £2 million for Turnbull from a championship club. Would we get more for Danny ?
  6. Yes, I know. And I think he's great. He's clearly developing really well, and I hope he goes on to flourish. I don't see him at the level of Hickey right now, but no reason he can't make it.
  7. I wasn't saying that he would be desperate to go, just pointing out the difference in any two potential deals. Also, as much as I love Kilmarnock if David Watson ends up spending his whole career here then something's went badly wrong.
  8. I think that was just so they got a run out before Euros without it being too taxing. To play 5 games in that period of time (plus hopefully) knock out games would be too much.
  9. I thought he did the right thing playing his strongest team. We were desperate for a win. The problem is that we don't have any decent young players. If Scotland had an 18 year old as good as Mainoo we would be building the team around him. The performance schools initiative has been a failure unfortunately. We're in a similar position as we were at the end of Craig Brown's reign.
  10. I am not so certain that Watson will be wanting to move anytime soon. He is on record as stating that he hopes to emulate Rory at Killie. Hopefully he can continue to progress where he is - at least for the foreseeable future.
  11. Spot on. Our position this summer should be that we're willing to sell but not desperate to. If nobody is willing to meet what is a more than fair valuation of him then we keep our most important player for another season and hope that he gets us either back into Europe or into it. Armstrong is a different case to Watson too. With David you'd be willing to take a smaller upfront fee in return for a decent sell-on but with Danny you'd want the amount guaranteed. £2.5m is not an unreasonable starting point and I believe that if an English Championship side e.g. got that deal then they've won a watch.
  12. Just like playing Gibraltar! I am sure Northern Ireland were viewed as being fairly straightforward opposition, where we would score a few goals and get the feelgood factor soaring.
  13. Around 1k seats in the main stand for us, so highly probable by the looks of it
  14. Southgate played Manoo , an 18yr old ? , and he was seemingly a revelation against Belgium . SC should have used Tuesday for someone like Mayo or Armstrong , but he’s become risk averse imo .
  15. Perhaps this fundraiser just needs advertising somewhere where more Killie fans are going to see this, we obviously all read the forums but not all Killie fans do, can it be posted elsewhere?
  16. We will be playing top teams in the summer. We are also in group A in the Nations league. I'd rather we tested ourselves, playing top teams and learning from mistakes, than doing what Levein and Strachan did and play likes of Estonia, Faroes and Luxembourg in friendlies to boost your win %.
  17. Cove Rangers at home for one.
  18. Clarke played Patterson and Gilmour as 18 and 19 year olds. the former at a major tournament when he was 19. Has a Scotland manager ever played an 19 year old at a major tournament? Not sure what young players there are just now that would be in with a shout of the squad? Tommy Conway at push perhaps.
  19. Who would you call up/play other than those who played recently? He has built success based on a a settled squad/team.
  20. For that reason we are holding off.
  21. Tickets purchased and they seem to be selling well already. It would be great to sell out the main stand and then take to the section behind the goal. It has been a while since we did that. I remember an occasion when we weren't allowed to sit in the main stand because it was ladies day - and Saints were worried that the Killie fans might offend the ladies with their behaviour!
  22. It's attitudes and opinions like this which holds our game and club back. Why the f**k should be feelngreatful for the crumbs someone offers for our best players when they're worth so much more. Why should we doft our cap and scrape put knees while mittering thank you master for the pittance they've offered. Well overdue that we stand our ground and get fair compensation for the quality we have. If they don't offer a fair price they can all go and f**k themselves.
  23. After the number of appearances that Rory has made, under several different managers and still DM wanted him to extend his contract. I think it speaks volumes for the highly valued player and the standing of the man that he is. Well done Rory - we are lucky to have you!
  24. Hi mate, glad you enjoyed it. there was a meet up after match but no video. Was just some live music, the raffle draw, etc. all the main stuff with the guests was pre match
  25. Today
  26. No it's not. If we sold him for anything less than £2million (chump change for Championship sides) I'd be really disappointed. His stats along are phenomenal and that's before you consider the intangibles that a player like Danny brings to your team. If Celtic thought that £3million+ was a fair price to pay for the boy Kuhn who looks half the player of Danny then why would we settle for less? Everyone in Scottish football loves hitting out with the woe is me patter about our game and then at the first opportunity turns round and says we should be grateful for receiving a pittance for our players. Mind-boggling stuff.
