Bang on. I'm sure I read on here somewhere he banged in a hat-trick in one of his first reserve games and wasn't even on the pitch the full game. Scoring goals could be a useful thing for us in the first team.

Should be starting for us, too. No-one will know the terms of the deal, but the excitement that surrounded his signing showed it was a bit of a coup for us. If there's an issue, I'd imagine it to be around not getting the game time he was promised, and he's taken it badly rather than try to fight for his place. It's great having competition for places, but that's got to be managed too... And Del doesn't do that well, sticks with his favourites far too much.
  3. Agreed. And it looks like McInnes does too: "I don't even think it's a foul and I don't think the referee gives a penalty if he sees it again. It's a coming together. Lewis has his eyes on the ball the whole time. It's not a foul and not a penalty kick." Seems strange so many reds going to people who think the ref got it wrong.
  4. Same. Coming together, get tangled up, both fall over.
  5. I regularly mute the commentary, it's like sitting in the FB stand amongst the "auld brigade" listening to JB. What really irks me too is that 9 times out of 10 he will completely ignore /disregard the co-comms statements or observations on the game and just keep ploughing on with his own patter.
  6. Big difference between a tombola and sensible rotation though. I feel we have to make a couple of changes to the starting lineup from the past few games - we've had some good results, but would like to see us starting stronger. Kinda feels like we're always on the back foot/scraping results just now.
  7. Arguably not Mayo's fault. And a very harsh decision imo.
  8. Agreed. Imagine how good we'd be if he had someone to play alongside!
  9. Get in Marley! What a knockdown!
  10. Careful. Those kind of suggestions can get you in bother - Vassell seems to be more divisive than Rory round these parts. We seem to be very defensive of our potentially not fit, suggested injured, non-goalscoring number 9.
  11. Not going to get match fit putting him on for the last 5-10mins every week, either. Madness bringing him in to keep him sat on the bench every week. Anyway, let's have a strong start and a good result!
  12. You're cherry-picking a part of a longer post with the intention of trying to be a smart arse, or else you'd have included the full quote. Imho.
  13. No edit needed. The paragraph you haven't quoted (unsurprisingly) is the one I've referenced.
  14. Seriously? Or are you having a laugh? I even say in my post "If he's carrying an injury..." The "if" signifies I am questioning that statement, and not repeating as a fact.
  15. Don't know, was quoting. Have asked that myself on here too, as it does seem strange we'd play a player carrying an injury when others are available, don't think I've seen an answer to that though.
  16. I don't get this. He's an unprolific striker, carrying an injury, keeping 2 very good strikers in Greg Stewart and van Veen out of the team. If he wasn't carrying an injury I'd ask why he was playing in front of those two. If he does have an injury, then it's plain madness. Goals aren't easy to come by, why are we making it even more difficult? No matter how nice a guy he is, how good he is off the pitch - when it comes to matchday surely the job of a "no.9" is first and foremost to score goals? Time to give someone else a start.
  17. To be fair, we only looked like taking something from the Celtic game once he changed the starting 11. The team was stronger and looked better post-substitutions so I would start the match today with the team that finished the last game.
  18. Yes. Liam Donnelly is definitely a better option than a young Liverpool midfielder. And any of the forward players on that bench should be starting in front of Vassell - great guy, terrible goalscorer.
  19. Would rather we started with our strongest/best team and got an early foothold on the game, then change it if that isn't working.
  20. Is this turning into some kinda in-joke now?! Should we not be going: That starting 11 😍 What good are they on the bench when there are people in that starting 11 who shouldn't be.
  21. Don't get me wrong, I think he's a class big fella who gets involved in our community activities, clearly has a good rapport with the team/fans, and works hard... But working hard every game, especially for a striker if that's all he really brings to the game, is not enough - we know this, as if it was Alex Dyer would have had a team challenging for the league title, not relegation. If he's our "lead striker" I want him to score more goals, create more chances/assists and stay in his feet. He hasn't done much of any of that this season, and I don't believe he deserves to start almost every game... Especially when we have such a strong bench in attack.
  22. Did you miss the "but we generally play better..." bit right after it. Indicating I was talking about the wider season in general, not specifically today's game. I think the thread is actually about why Van Veen and Greg Stewart aren't playing, rather than today's game. So your post is wrong. Twice. Well done.
  23. Madness you're being down voted for this. It's clear we start playing better after the subs come on - I'd prefer to see us starting games strong, personally. Never saw today's game, but we generally play better/look more likely to score when "big Vass" gets taken off.
