Firstly, I appreciate the kind words. Baz has been in touch in the past to discuss this and I know he and the other moderators do their best to keep tabs, and will remove anything that’s been blatantly copy & pasted.
On the premise of your point, Gaby & I don’t feel differently. Of course, we have absolutely no issue with folk discussing our stories, such as on the transfer thread, just as people would with any other mainstream media source. If anything, it actually gives me a wee buzz when I see people referencing our stuff and they ultimately know it can be trusted as reliable information - that’s one of our primary aims.
However, there is a balance to be had between a reference to our articles and giving away nearly every single detail when that sort of intel is behind the paywall for a reason. To reiterate, we love that Killie fans trust us and enjoy reading our stuff. But like you point out, our model is to encourage as many readers as we can to subscribe as paid-for members, and we need to protect the value of that as best we can. I know some people don’t like paywalls in journalism, but that’s just the way it is in the industry now I’m afraid. I’m sure most people appreciate we do make a fair amount of our content free to read too, or at least our matchday coverage every week.
I’ll always make the effort to interact on the forums when I can, and I certainly don’t mind giving away wee snippets here and there when possible. I would just kindly ask that our readers are conscious of how much information they’re sharing on here or Facebook in relation to our stories that are marked as ‘paid,’ as the last thing I want is for other subs to feel like they’re not getting the full value of the product they’re forking out for.
Without trying to dominate this thread, just wanted to finish by saying a massive thanks for all the support from everyone, whether fully signed-up members or more casual readers. Our growth in the past year has been great, and we’re excited about what more is to come. Cheers 💙
