  1. I don’t buy the idea that Hearts,Hibs, and Aberdeen, should normally fill the top six places. A well run, well managed, club should always be capable of negating the financial advantage that these clubs have. If Hearts through European competition, or Hibs through financial backing, managed to create a wider and wider financial gulf then obviously it would become harder to break into the top six. I would argue that although Dundee and Utd are city clubs they are competing with each other for support and to date they have managed to mismanage their finances spectacularly.

Yes, as it will never happen ever again in our lifetimes.

Better to have happened than to have never happened before like some.

It is also an admission of defeat. It is completely unrealistic to believe that we can win the league but when every season starts I still have that belief that this season we will win it. I was there to witness us winning the league I don’t need reminding how old I am or how long it's been. Do these lads that were very vocal at home against St. Johnstone think we will never win the league ? They still have the belief of youth, that anything and everything is possible. That's the way we should approach every new season whether we are 5 or 75.

Apart from that it's a song that hasn't worn too well.

  3. It's the way West Ham play in most of their EPL games against the top sides in the Premiership. Bowen was injured so their best threat to break out of defence had gone. Antonio tried his best with little support, yet they could have taken the lead if either he had shot or the ball to Kudus had been better. Paqueta wasn't offering much after getting a yellow card for a bad foul which could have been a red.

  4. For the most part Leverkusen v West Ham was pretty boring, Leverkusen dominating possession with the Hammers having the odd breakaway chance to score. The nearer it got to the end the West Ham defending became more frantic until the pressure told and Leverkusen got two late goals. It isn't an accident that Leverkusen score so many late goals, they simply dominate possession until they find cracks in the opposition defence. The stats were Leverkusen, 73% possession, 33 shots,13 on target, 10 corners. West Ham 27% possession, 1 shot, 1 shot on target, 1 corner.

  5. Don't know that £50 a head would stop them. Believe the police eventually had to pepper-spray some Celtic fans at our last home game with them because they wouldn’t stop forcing in two at a time on the one ticket.

A few of them will. There will also be vastly more Killie fans in the home end which wasn't the case before.

I don't know how many of the fans that fill the standing area in the East are ST holders. Same goes for the young lads at the top of the Moffat. If there was some way to get the non-season tickets holders in those groups tickets for a potential title decider I would be all for that. Until we know the fixtures there's nothing we can do.

Only thing i can think of is why they might try and avoid putting Celtic at RP is the pitch, They are paranoid enough as it is without that.

That said, I'd rather play them at home than away last game. The thought of going to Ibrox/Parkhead when one of them can win the league is nauseating. Would be a real test of loyalty that!!!

Playing either of them away in the last game isn't going to affect our support for next season. Playing them at home in title deciders put a lot of people off coming to games. I know both of them only get one stand now but you and I know that they will get home end tickets somehow. We have built up our support on the basis of being a family club, I don’t want that to be affected by scenes like those in previous title deciders at RP.

Sevco prove they are bigger entitled c**ts than anyone thought they already were.  Absolute f**king vermin, no awareness of the horrendous weather on the East Coast this week ( don't know what it's like in the west).  A f**ktonne of rain on an already damaged pitch and Dundee are unprofessional.

You want to know what's unprofessional their f**king statements.  Absolutely despite them,

How many games have Dundee Utd lost ? I guess there must be a giant umbrella over Tannadice. Little or no money being spent on Dens Park or Pittodrie because of the belief that they're moving to a new ground. Thanks to BB and the Trust we are making improvements to our ground with more to come.

If we have guaranteed fourth spot, we should offer to move all our season ticket holders to the Frank Beattie and tell whichever one it is they can have all three stands , provided they guarantee to make good all damage. Tickets would be £40 each with no concessions.

We were housed in the Frank Beattie before, the 6-0 humiliation when Kenny was the manager.

  10. We're going to face one of the manky mobs at home. I just hope we have a contingency plan in place for the possibility that it will be a title decider. In saying that I have no idea how that could be implemented.

  11. Still could be one of three teams to get the last place in the top six. If Dundee lose tonight on the mud patch then it's away to Aberdeen on Saturday and Motherwell v Hibs fighting to get above them with Motherwell having the better goal difference of the three.

Karen,  Frank's daughter is the younger lady.

The other lady is Mrs Sneddon, Davies wife.

Mrs Beattie sadly passed away couple of years back.

Thanks @Squirrelhumper. I did wonder if it was Mrs Beattie but if she was a similar age to Frank she would have been late eighties, early nineties. Good that we keep the relatives of our great players involved.

  13. I thought the young lads in the Moffat were really good. Their enthusiasm is to be encouraged. Also thought that Manu's half-time appearance woke up the crowd from a fairly dull first half. Some former player appearances start with some singing but just peter out. Not on Saturday, the whole three home stands got right behind our former captain.

  14. Dundee have posted a loss of £2.9m for the year up to the end of May and expect to experience a similar deficit this season.

The club say they "might again require to obtain further financial support from the company's majority shareholder, Football Partners Scotland L.P.", controlled by Tim Keyes.

"The directors are satisfied that Football Partners Scotland L.P. has sufficient financial resources to fulfil this undertaking," they stress in their annual accounts.

Dundee, who had experienced a loss of nearly £900,000 in the year to May 2022, expect "improving" financial results for the 2024-25 season.
"These projections have been drawn up on the basis of conservative assumptions as to the league position to be achieved by the football club, attendance levels at matches and the management of all costs, including expenditure on players costs," they say.

"The financial projections, which have been prepared, anticipate that the company will be able to meet its ongoing financial commitments from funds generated from operations."

However, at the year-end, there was a deficit of £6,249,728 - nearly double the 2022 figure - of shareholders' funds, hence the possible need to guarantee outside funding "as the company does not have formal funding facilities in place to cover any financial deficits which might occur".

"The board of directors has received an undertaking in writing from Football Partners Scotland L.P. that it will continue to make additional funds available to the company in situations where these funds are required," they say.

Dundee's loss came during a season when they were promoted back to the Premiership as champions after a season in the second-tier, despite staff costs remaining static at about £3.5m.

"With the dedication of the owners to get promoted from the Championship we kept a Premiership budget with a championship income. This resulted in a financial loss but this was expected in order to return Dundee Football Club to Scotland's top flight."

The financial results have been released with the club sixth in the Premiership and with two games before the split as they look to seal a first top-six finish since 2015.

It also comes as they plan a move to a new stadium, amid criticism for the condition of the playing surface at their current Dens Park home.

I prefer being behind the goals, better atmosphere and less need to sit down.

It also helps the team having fans behind the goals rather than stuck in a corner.

Fair enough but the section they've opened is probably the worst view of the lot. Corner flag to the end of the six yard box. I'm not against standing at a game but it depends on the ground. Pittodrie was murder, even though we were standing we were in the open area with no view of what was happening down the left touchline.
