That was the worst ever. Horrible day, horrible game.
I could be misremembering, but I'm sure we had a goal chalked off when we were still kind of in it at 3 - 1. That may have changed things.

I've never left a game, but watching us get scudded 5 - 1 off Hibs in the League Cup final in the snow tested my patience.

I was gutted when he left, thought it was far too early in his career. That he spent most of his time down south suggests that's true. Definitely came back and improved player though!

A lot is made of players/managers having a link to Rangers/Celtic, however tenuous it may be or how brief their time at either club was.
Reality is, outside Scotland most casual football fans would struggle to name anyone but either of them. If he started talking about nearly half of his playing days at Morton most viewers/listeners would be baffled.

He's our number 9, he's not scoring enough goals. It's a bizarre point you are making. He deserves some criticism with his lack of goals and the chances that he's missed. Sometimes you've got to be cruel to be kind. We need much more from our number 9.
I didn't really think it was that bizarre of a point to be honest. I can only think of Boyd and the Eremenko/Sammon combination when we had a striker who scored for fun. We've never been a particularly high scoring team.
Not saying he should be immune to criticism, of course he should, I just think it's a bit overboard at times is all.

I'm not disputing that more could have been done in the build up to the goals, or that we could have played better/created more chances.
It was a bad day against a team we've struggled against hugely over the years. They may be absolutely pish currently but sh!t happens.
Not entirely sure on the financials, but finishing higher up the league is surely a greater reward, especially with the potential for European football.
Not that I don't want us to win a trophy of course, but I'd be more irked if we lost out on 4th spot to be honest. Saturday is a huge game in that context.

A friendly reminder that only Watkins has scored more than Vass this season.
The flack the fella gets is unreal.
His apology and comments are absolutely spot on for me. A scunner of a result, but ultimately what can you do about 3 deflected goals?

Billy Berntsson is always the answer to threads like this.

Don't get me wrong, I think he's a class big fella who gets involved in our community activities, clearly has a good rapport with the team/fans, and works hard...
But working hard every game, especially for a striker if that's all he really brings to the game, is not enough - we know this, as if it was Alex Dyer would have had a team challenging for the league title, not relegation.
If he's our "lead striker" I want him to score more goals, create more chances/assists and stay in his feet. He hasn't done much of any of that this season, and I don't believe he deserves to start almost every game... Especially when we have such a strong bench in attack.
Only one player has scored more goals than Vassell. He's usually involved in our build up play too.

Do we believe they are going to actually begin to start games for us?
What a difference with how we played in the last 15 minutes.
We've spent a considerable outlay in January to get them in. It'll be very frustrating if we continue to see them coming off the bench knowing their quality.
I'm actually getting nervous that Vassell is going to remain our main man up front for the rest of the season!

Looks like Hodgson is being shown the door at Palace, and was taken ill in training today which I hope is nothing serious as he seems like one of the good guys.
Sure he's old, but he's vastly more intelligent than most of the tabloid-reading cretins who can only pick up on him having a slight speech impediment as a criticism. Oh, and he looks a bit like an owl, but that's quite cool to be honest.

He didn't miss, the ball was on target and well saved by the keeper.
Vassell has only just been overtaken by Watkins as our top scorer.
This 1 on 1 p!sh is nearly as tedious as the "McInnes tombola" chat.

Not ideal, but at least we are leading the way I suppose.

You want unbelievable. Watch and listen to the Irish TMO yesterday, days he can see the ball on the ground (which he and every other f**ker in the world can as well) then decides there's not enough evidence to say the ball is on the ground.
Thr standard if officiating almost everywhere in every sport has plummeted in the past 5 to 10 years
The rugby really got to you, huh?
There is one shot that 90% showed the grounding of the ball. It wasn't 100% which is why the decision went the way it did.
I'm more annoyed about Vassell's goal not standing. It's nuts that we don't have the wee buzzer thing for when the goal like is broken. Surely it couldn't be all that difficult to implement with all the other technology now in place?

He's 6"1' isn't he? Not that tall really.

Wasn't aware of the changes to be honest. The powers that be seem to fanny around with formats all the time so I tend not to pay attention until they actually get going?

Whats the current situation with European qualification for next season with the change in formats of the competitions. What competition and stage do the Scottish clubs go in at next season depending on League position/cup win?
I believe...
Third is a Europa League playoff spot, to get into the group stages.
Fourth is a qualifying Conference League spot, progressing to a playoff, then group stages.
Fifth is also Conference League, followed by another 3 ties before a playoff.
This does change a bit depending on who wins the Scottish Cup and their league position, but that's nothing new.

He was there as an advisor before he became manager, think they sacked the previous manager straight after the World Cup so he must have knew what to expect after not making it out of the group stages
The previous manager, Addo, resigned - which I'm sure he'd said he was going to do regardless of how the WC went. He's back with Borussia Dortmund as their talent coach.

Ghana have parted ways with Chris Hughton after a poor showing at AFCoN. He was only there for 13 games which isn't much time at all, even in international football.

I had it in my head he had been there for a bit. Double checked just now and I kust have imagined it!
Nae danger! Great player, unfairly maligned as a journeyman probably (not by you I hasten to add).

Gary Harkins, Paul Cairney, Willie Gibson,
I don't think Willie Gibson played for Ayr? Not the player any of us would be able to remember anyway.

You can be happy and honest about the performance at the same time, first 20 mins we looked great and played well and capitalised with 2 goals, most of the rest of the game we played quite poor. That's just the truth and can play much better which hopefully is good thing
I'm not disputing that, and that wasn't my point.
Slagging off our players who do what they're supposed to be doing is weird to me.

Another home draw please, Ayr, Bonnyrigg Rose, Morton, Airdrie or Cove/Brora. But we all know it will be one of the twisted.
We've nowt to fear from either Rangers or Celtic. I'd rather them than playing a side who we "should" beat.

I will never understand the negativity around some of our players. What more is Vassell meant to do? He's our joint top scorer...
Scoring early doors always does weird things to a game, but we never really seemed to be in trouble, a couple of blips aside.
Fourth in the league, through to the last 16 of the Scottish Cup having beaten a side managed by someone who'll know us inside out? Can't complain about that at all.

Delighted for him. A definite favourite of mine over the years.
