  1. Does anyone else despair at how completely mundane these interviews are? Just the same easy questions setting up cliché responses. Phrasing questions to get the same old taglines to add to the so called 'Gossip' column on the BBC website (or wherever). I will say though, I thought I couldn't love Marley any more, but his voice is pure silk, what a man.
  2. Aberdeen denied what looked like a stonewall penalty right at the end of the first half.
  3. All that matters is Stewart is in the starting line up. Absolutely buzzing to watch him in the stripes again.
  4. Oh aye. Forgot about this gem... https://youtu.be/UkzU3cYBr-M?si=SHp6of7IQgFx9LMi
  5. Can GMS play on the left? I really like Kennedy but would probably rather see him drop out than Danny on current form.
  6. From the Herald... McInnes shuts down Kilmarnock 'threw money at it' Van Veen narrative Derek McInnes has quashed rumours Kilmarnock gazumped St Mirren with an over-the-odds financial offer for Kevin van Veen. The former Motherwell striker completed a loan switch to Rugby Park from FC Groningen on deadline day. Van Veen - nicknamed the Budget Bergkamp - chose a move to Kilmarnock over offers from St Mirren and former club Motherwell. Groningen had accepted similar proposals from St Mirren and Kilmarnock for Van Veen, 32, but the forward decided to join McInnes after initial discussions held back in December. “It became clear that it was between us and St Mirren, we had to go every step of the way with them," said McInnes of the transfer pursuit for Van Veen. “It’s two clubs that are a similar size with similar ambitions, we were in a fight. “Thankfully the club supported us on it, and it got to the point both clubs agreed a deal and it was down to Kevin. “I need to quash the rumour or the narrative that we threw loads of extra money at it, we never, and that’s a fact. “We had to put our best foot forward, we matched St Mirren’s offer to the extent that Groningen left it up to him. “Thankfully Kevin chose us, we’d have been gutted if he had chosen elsewhere after the conversations and effort we put in. “There was a huge effort from everyone in the background here at the club, we’ve got a good administrative staff ready to deal with things. “We’ve got support from the board and then there’s Russ Richardson who helps deal with the agent side of things during these deals." Van Veen had requested a move back to Scotland having spent December in Scotland after the birth of his daughter. Groningen had favoured a permanent move but with little time remaining in the window settled on a loan deal until the end of the season. “We are delighted to get the deal done, obviously we weren’t the only show in town trying to sign him," explained McInnes. “A player with Kevin’s ability you’d always expect competition, we took a bit of comfort in the fact I’d been speaking to him since December trying to point him in our direction. “I always knew the situation with him at Groningen, I knew they probably wanted a permanent resolution, and we knew it would be drawn out over January. “We were always hopeful that come the last day if there wasn’t a permanent option and it became a loan one then we had to put our best foot forward. “Thankfully that’s what it came down to, over the course of the day it was a tough day, I need to applaud everyone behind the scenes at Kilmarnock for their perseverance." Van Veen's late deadline day switch followed a free transfer deal for Greg Stewart to return to Kilmarnock. However, McInnes was keen to ease expectations on the charismatic Dutchman with game time limited in the first half of the season. “We hope it’s a significant signing, we are mindful of the fact that Kevin hasn’t played since November, we need to get him up to speed, but there’s no doubting his quality. “He’s a great addition to the squad, we aren’t improving the forward areas because we’re unhappy, we’ve had a lot of good returns from the front lads. “We’re bringing Kevin and Greg [Stewart] in because we want to strengthen that area. “Kevin has great pedigree, he knows Scottish football and despite limited appearances this season he’s still scored five goals. “He comes here confident, a talismanic type of figure, and I think he will fit in with us playing in a front two, I think he can play with any of our front players. “We feel fortunate that we’ve managed to get him in, as I say I am grateful for the support we’ve had to get him here. “But Kevin is also lucky coming in to a good dressing room with so many good players, it’s a team that’s going well. “All the new signings in January have came on board because they see there’s a good team here, they see where we are in the league. “But it’s up to us now, just because we have a good squad on paper, it’s important that we try and step on now for the second part of the campaign."
  7. Genuinely can't process these emotions as this January transfer window progresses. It is so so far from what we're become used to and whether we get KVV or not it is a great time to be a Killie fan and so much of that is thanks to Mcinnes.
  8. Dare I say... too much Tequila?
  9. 1-0 Killie Craik I think. Peach, skinned 3 or 4 players then rifled across keeper into bottom corner.
  10. I know what you mean, but I still think the standard of football player in our league has been getting worse and worse so he would still be a cut above what other teams have to offer. I don't think anyone is expecting the same Greg Stewart that was here 5 years ago, but someone with ability who can come off the bench and influence a game is worth having on our side. Plus, I miss the top bin goals.
  11. Considering how close all of our league games have been this season, score-wise, I think someone like Greg Stewart could be the difference maker because of his ability. If he doesn't sign for us, he'll sign for one of our rivals and guarantee he'll score/create a good few goals from nothing between now and the end of the season. I would be so happy if we got him back, even at his age. One of the most exciting, talented players I've ever seen in a Killie shirt.
  12. Dundee are starting to feel like our new Aberdeen, there's a real rivalry forming. Would be gutted if he chose to go there over staying with us.
  13. I thought this too. All of the media seemed to suggest Dennis had a bit of a howler with the Celtic goal but when I watched it back it was actually a really good reaction save and a strong hand too, it was just unlucky that it fell to a Celtic player. I think he would have done incredibly well to push that one out of the danger zone.
  14. ...and pretty sure it was going wide.
  15. I was working at an event with Craig Beattie recently and asked him about the time he apparently nearly signed for Killie. It was in 2012 and he had just been released by Swansea. He said it was basically a done deal, and he was driving up the road to sign the contract, then during the journey he had a call from his agent saying Hearts were offering more money so he drove there to sign instead.
  16. I know what you mean about there being only one spot 'left' in the top 6, when you factor in the bigger teams in the league. But if you look at the season before last, the top 6 included Motherwell, Dundee United and Ross County. I'm just saying we don't know how any team outside the old firm are going to perform this year, and most seem to really struggle to be consistently successful season to season. I think there's a chance we will make the top 6, and if we do it will be a relief and a huge success. I'd settle for 8th comfortably and some semblance of an identity on the park.
  17. Can't help but feel a soft spot for big Doidge. Always put in a hell of a shift and if he does come back I think part of me will be glad he's our full player. A much bigger part of me though will be cursing the recruitment team's total lack of imagination and dreading another season with not enough time spent jumping out my seat and hugging the fans around me. As Einstein put it: “ The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, but expecting different results”
  18. To be fair these things aren't without some merit. I agree we've been lucky and Mcinnes hasn't transformed our club in the way we hoped he would but it goes both ways and actually on paper it has been an improvement outwith the league, which sadly has been abysmal. If we manage to stay up I think we should keep Mcinnes for a year and see how he does without the excuses of not having his own full squad. Re-assess at the end of next season, and if we're still pish get him punted.
  19. For what it's worth, I'd go: Walker Alebiousu Mayo Wright Chambers Donnelly Armstrong Polworth Watson Jones Doidge ...But what I think we'll get will be closer to: Walker Wright Taylor Chambers Armstrong Donnelly Power Watson Mckenzie Doidge Robinson It almost feels like it doesn't really matter who the personnel are at this stage. Any combination of players have proven they are capable of getting a result on their day. Whoever gets picked just need to realise the position that we're in and work their arses off to play close to their potential. It will be my first live game in months due to work so whatever happens I'll be cheering the team on for the 90 minutes. Lets get Livi skelpt and give ourselves a fighting chance in the final games.
  20. Delighted with this. Future club captain imo.
  21. I actually think Vassell is a good footballer. Always looks really comfortable taking the ball in his stride, holds it up well, and has shown at other clubs that he can finish. We are not creating much as a team just now but I think with a better system and service he will score a decent amount of goals for us.
  22. Just beat me to it. Looks behind Robinson's line too. Not that it would have saved the game but seriously, what a joke VAR is.
  23. Danny's got the right idea. Let's all pray.
